Guest guest
Hello to all, hope your holiday was great, mine was. I have been south of the border for the last week catching lots of fish. We had a huge barbecue on Thanksgiving featuring fresh yellowfin tuna, fresh wahoo and wild pig. Yes we had a turkey too! We fed half of San delCabo with the fish we caught during our yearly tournament at the Thanksgiving fiesta. We also caught and released unharmed over 40 marlin. I have been reading through many messages this morning and feel compelled to respond. It seems that I am one of the few people on the site who takes absolutely no medication for CMT. I have to consider my self very fortunate for that. I am very physically active so I get my share of aches and pains but aspirin works just fine for me. I do get occasional shooting pains in my legs but a dip in the jacuzzi usually works wonders for that. I do not suffer from extreme fatigue or depression either. I am not writing this to brag or make any one feel worse, simply to let some of our new members know that some people with CMT have very mild symptoms. On the other hand I am a firm believer in natural herbs and supplementation and I truly believe that this helps to keep me healthy. The AMA does not believe in or condone many herbal supplements because they can not generate any revenue from them. The current topic seems to be revolving around fatigue and depression. It seems that many of your physicians seem to blame everything that ails you on your CMT. My advice is to find a new physician. I agree with , if I overeat I gain weight, while on the other hand if I am angry I do not eat, I work or exercise until my anger subsides. Sara, sounds like you have good bones, I have broken too many bones although only 2 can be attributed to my CMT, mostly my lack of brains. Walking on grass is hard for me too. Uneven surfaces are hard. , In my humble opinion it sounds like your mother has some issues with your CMT, possible guilt?? Don't know if it came from her side of the family or your dad's. My folks kind of ignored my CMT simply because I ignored it. If you can not find common ground with your mom on this then find a friend to be your sounding board, it will help with the aggression. Good luck. Last but not least, Judy brings up a very solid point regarding exercise, we all need some form of exercise, without it our muscles wither and our lungs don't function well. I am willing to guess that many of you who suffer from extreme fatigue are getting little or no exercise, talk to your doctor or a physical therapist and get going, no time like the present. I am not a doctor and I do not know all of your medical histories so I am generalizing here. Be positive and take it one day at a time. You can do it. Guest guest
Bill thank you for your post. I sometimes think that when a newcomer comes on board we do bombard them with our horror stories but you're post has pointed out that each case of CMT is so totally different and it is so important the this fact is realised. To discover you have CMT is pretty horrible but to realise there are so many different types is reassuring, so please all newcomers realise that things you read on this site or not necessarily pertinent to you. We all have different levels of CMT but the important thins is we know what it's like to have it. Love Sue X The important thing is never to stop questioning.
