Guest guest
That means you had HepA at one time or another. BUT...you should have always been showing those antibodies. If you have never had that result before, I would have my dr retest me.

Just because you only had 13,500 copies of virus, doesn't mean you didn't need treatment. What were your biopsy results prior to doing treatment? The viral load is just a number. It doesn't go to zero and it doesn't indicate what kind or how much liver damage you may have. You don't say what your other liver enzyme results are so it's hard to tell if you have ongoing damage occuring or not. Also, what is your genotpye?

If you aren't happy with your liver specialist I would definitely change doctors. It will make life much easier for you to be seen by someone you are comfortable with.

LeighAnn
http://www.geocities.com/1Leighann

Guest guest
I never had a biopsy, my dr told me that if we did one and it came back bad the insurance wouldn't pay for tx. Should have known better I know, but as you know when you first find out you (or I) didn't think clearly. I think my genotype is 1a, does that sound right?
Thanks for the quick response, one more question, since the hepa antibodies are in me does that mean that i am contagious?

Thanks again,
Debi

Guest guest
Get rid of that doctor. He is full of crap...geeze. Have a new dr do another Hepatitis Panel. I bet you don't even have the antibodies. BUT..if you do, you are NOT contageous. It just means that at one time or another in your life you did have HepA. You would remember having it. It makes you sick as heck for about 6 months.

Yes the gentoype sounds right. I'm a 1a and unfortunately, genotype 1 does not respond well to treatment.

Before you consider any more treatment, get a biopsy...and fire that doctor. It's a shame we have to educate our own doctors....

LeighAnn
