Guest guest
If you have type 2 the EMG/NCVs will be normal or near normal because it is the INSIDE of the nerve that is deteriorating, not the myelin sheath on the outside. The EMG/NCVs pick up the deteriorating myelin sheath, not the deteriorating core of the nerve. Kat
Guest guest
Hey , LOL but I have NO idea why my EMG/NCV results are in the normal range! Yes, CMT causes muscle atrophy and nerve loss. Guess I don't have much? OR the reiennervation has taken over quite a bit. The way I understand it is that nerves rewire themselves to carry on. Paolo's book and Paolo can explain this better. Why this happens? I have no idea! LOL Like I said Paolo is better to explain this than I. In 1961 or 2, my Mom noticed I didn't walk right. I was 9 or 10. Took me to an orthopedist, and without any tests of anykind, but just by watching me walk up and down his hallways in a hospital gown, he could see my anatomy, he diagnosed me with CMT. Had foot surgery on the tendons then and that put my feeet back in a normal position. But I still was a toe walker. I had many OTHER diagnoses over the years, as my parents hauled me to every Dr. known to man to find a 'cure'. Early EMG/NCVs just hell, very large needles, electrodes on my head test, spinal tap, bla bla bla. At one time I had MS, MD, FA, s, Lupus, and others I can't remember. ALL of which I failed the tests for! LOL So, now Drs. think I am a spontaneous mutant CMT because of NO family history at all. ~ Gretchen shannon marzinski wrote: > How are your EMG results in the normal range?
