Guest guest
As hikkr said, how long you wait for treatment depends upon several factors. Have you had a recent genotype, viral load, and biopsy? These tests show disease progression and degree of inflammation, as well as establishing what course of treatment, if any, is appropriate for you. Hepatitis C is a highly individualized disease, LOL. What is true for one of us may not be true of the next one. I, too, was infected early, at age 16. According to studies, WOMEN who get HepC at a young age do not progress rapidly, if at all. I showed symptoms for years, but they were misdiagnosed. I did not seek the help of a specialist until I had carried the virus for 32 years. Despite my drug/alcohol abuse, my liver is hardly damaged. My viral load was high (2.3million), and the inflammation was at stage 3. This prompted the doc to begin treatment. I was negative at 3, 6, and 12 months. Genotype 1. Will take after tx test in September. Personally, I feel fantastic now and finally have my health and sanity back. Pegasys worked for me. Let us know what your labs are and perhaps we can give you more information on making a decision. Not everyone needs treatment. Life style changes can do much to keep symptoms under control. Guest guest
Yea big congradulations on that one Ms. I've never had a viral load done on me the hepatologist just started pressuring me to do pegasys 6 mo after sugery makes me wonder how they will know if I am responding or not kind of looks like they don't care if I need it or respond to it I have attained some kind of a bovine status after avoiding that mindset all my life. Good Luck and I hope all areas of your life are positive and all members of your family are healthy and happy. See Ya...Mike > > my viral load was 400 > > they did pot recommend treatment > > just suggest a liver biopsy > > > > > >
