I am 27 mo.since explant and the worst pain is over. I still have some in my upper arms and if I sit more than 20 min. I feel very stiff also. My upper back and neck also get tightened. I go to p/t and he is loosening me up and trying a little with weights to give me more endurance. I am 984 pre McGhan (3M). Is there anyone else out there with my brand? N in Md.

Hi ,

My daughter fell into this same category, and she settled a couple of years ago through her attorney in Waco, TX.

MM / NSIF

PS - Not a great settlement for all her illnesses, however, it was at least 5 figures!

hi ,

She was implanted in the summer of '84, by a PS who was doing practically nothing other than breast implants, 10 - 12 hours per day. So she was really a 'borderline case' in the beginning, and had the double-lumens ('Black Widows')! Due to the number of implants this PS was doing at the time, he couldn't have had any implants in his stock for very long. However, I do not remember exactly what was determined about whether hers were pre or post '84. All I know at this time, is that when her number came up to settle, McGhan was really willing to give her, at least, a 'decent settlement' -- she probably could have pressed for double the amount she got --- however, she was in the middle of a tragic divorce, and simply didn't have the time & energy to press for more $$$s!

I will find out if she & her attorneys were ever able to determine exactly, whether she had pre or post '84 implants in her body -- you would think I would remember this! Then, I will let you know, for sure. Please do not hesitate to remind me, if you don't hear from me soon about this!

I think I have some documentation on this, however, I will have to look for it. Don't hesitate to remind me about this also if you haven't heard in the next few weeks.

Blessings,

Martha Murdock

NSIF

Martha, Was your daughter a pre 1984 or post? If you are pre, I think they have dow gel in them. Does anyone have documentation on this?

If she was implanted in summer of 84 so was I. They were also called "black widow" because you got the worst of both shells, silicone and saline. I am told that the gel was made by Dow. The settlement she was in was the mdl? I never was able to satisfy all there demands. I did get the proof of manufacturer and explant surgical report. Please let me know of anymore information about your friend. For instance, did she recover, have rupture, or silicone bleed, how long did it take to get almost well or did she ever get well? I appreciate you writing me with this information. N in Md.
