Guest guest
My ankles have some flexion left in them. But as my doctor told me the process will take time and then it will be gone. If I want to keep my flexion for a while, I can keep doing exercises, but they really are difficult and painful. Most days I don't bother. I would say that in another year or so my ankles will not have any movement. So whether you have or have not is really not a good indicator of CMT. I learned that I had the disease by the good old DNA test. It was supposed to be 99.9% accurate. Since this is true I did not look any farther. But a couple of other of my tests sure were good indicators... my EMGs, and my nerve biopsy... By all in all I'd say if you want to know the real truth and your insurance will pay. get hte dna test done... it is expensive. So far I have not gotten the bill yet. But I hate to see what it is. Lucky I have reached the point in my insurance that they are paying 100%. Colette Zyrkowski, R.D., M.P.H.
