From reading you postings, you have already done quite a bit of searching and familiarizing yourself with our group. Very good----educating yourself is very important. > > I am 41 years old and was diagnosed when I was 36. Within the last year, I have had both of my feet operated on because my ankles were rolling. So far, the soft tissue surgery has been a success. I do not wear orthotics or AFOs at this time, nor have I ever. But of course that may occur down the road. My hands are affected. They are withered looking and I am loosing strength in them. But, life goes on and I choose to live my live with a positive attitude. That doesn't mean that I don't have some " down " days, but staying depressed and dwelling on " what I can't do " will not help me or change things! For me, stress is a major factor. It causes CMT to exacerbate and I am still learning how not to let it take over my life. > > Don't worry about your lacking computer skills; we all have to learn. I learn something new every day! It is not the policy of Gretchen to " air dirty laundry " , but she had VERY VALID reasons. You will find as with any group of people, there are personality clashes, ego maniacs and those who want to " waller " in self pity. Let me assure you, this group is/and will continue to be a POSITIVE and upbeat educational group of people who have CMT. We are all here to learn about CMT and help others. Enough said regarding this situation. We will continue to have a monthly newsletter. > > Again, welcome to the group. I guess I did not read all the e- mails because I saw no " wallering " in self pity. And I guess I need to know those VERY VALID reasons as I don't want to do anything wrong here. This is a most informative place to be for this disease. I did read those on elavil? And saw no arguments with it, yet the owner said it was an argument. And read a reply that some one was leaving because of it. You said what I can't do wont help or change it. Thats right, but it can help to change things. If I see what I can't do, I can then change to what I can do. I must take a break from all my reading as I am seeing two moniters and three keyboards, ha ha. will read more later and thanks for the welcome. >
