Guest guest
Jeanie, I agree with you, and still miss Pete! But he knew he had Hep C and all the damage it was doing to him and the damn government wouldn't recognize his need! I was so excited for him when he found out about the insurance that he could get from the state of Wisconsin, so he wouldn't be dependent on the VA anymore, sadly, he was too sick by then. Danny was a firefighter - a well-known risk group - and *nobody* thought to test him for Hep C until they were considering a transplant? And if the information I am getting is correct, that's why they *denied* him! Outrageous, but I am waiting for to double check details on this. I can't believe the ignorance that still persists about this virus. I'm honked off, too, at the people who don't want the Hep C bill passed through congress because it " mentions " HIV. Who cares, so what, we are all in this earthly bond together! Ok, as long as I'm on a rant, let me tell you who else pisses me off! The people who take the " high moral ground " against people with certain diseases. A perfect example is the way Deb's family treated her (hi Deb, I know I owe you a mail, I'm just trying to calm down first!). Who the hell cares how we get what we get anyway? I could be haughty and say, well I didn't deserve this because I was a kid who got a needed blood transfusion, I never did drugs or was promiscuous or any of that. What does that make me? We all try to get through this life the best we can, and things happen, we certainly couldn't have anticipated them or " deserved " them. Many people got diseases by being in the military. Do they have a higher status than a drug user? In my book, no, they were just unlucky like the rest of us. Before the flames start, I just want to say that I feel we are all children of God. Not one of us is any better than any other of us. We were all put here as beautiful, innocent babies, and have tried to deal with life as best as we can. That's the reason why we are all here together on this list. We got here because we needed comfort, and stayed to provide support to each other. And mostly, we know that each of us understands what the rest of us are going through in a way we can't have in our other relationships. Ok, getting off of my soapbox and sending hugs all around, Marilyn Re: Question about transplants Look how long it took Pete to get on a transplant list. I really think they don't want to waste a liver on us, so they keep stalling us untill we die...Sorry, but Pete should not have died. If those so called professionals did their job right in the first place, Pete would still be here...I still miss his inspirational and sometime thought provoking posts... Danny was sent to another hospital to have some testing done, and it was found he had somehow contracted hep. C, so the transplant was ruled out as an option for him. Please remember his wife and sons in your prayers, as Danny has passed away.< I thought one of the main reasons for liver transplantation was Hep C. Would someone possibly be ruled out *because* of Hep C? I'm thinking he must have been too far gone for a transplant, and my gosh, this guy had been in the hospital for 2 months, and they just *now* tested him for Hep C? Thoughts, please? Guest guest
Jeanie, I will keep on ranting! I agree with you, I had Aetna years ago, and they were terrible! DH's company self insurance is pretty awful, but it is the last insurance that will be forced to take me. If and when I go on treatment, I will insist on Pegasys as well. Shering doesn't know everything. And, oh, I'm not the same Marilyn as 's mom, I was on the list about a year before her. How sad for a mom to see her child go through this at such an accelerated rate. To differentiate, I will sign my posts as Marilyn NAM (not ' s mom). I have this virus all by myself, thank God! Marilyn NAM Re: Question about transplants Keep on ranting, maybe if more people rant, they'ed listen to us. I'm going to the VA and I'm glad, because I have no insurance. I left a good paying job with insurance in Sept of 2000, after 6 years, because of the stress (fatigue) of working over 55 hours a week. If I'd found out about my HCV then, my employer would've found a way to get rid of me, if not my insurance wouldn't of covered me anyway. (aetna was the co, and they cost me more than they're worth) I'm seeing a new dr on my next visit, and I'm 99% sure I want the Pegasys not Peg-intron. My last dr insisted on Peg-intron, so unless this new one listens to me, forget it. Right now those idiots at the VA turned down my service connected disability w/o giving me a reason. I was in the military when I got a transfusion in 1980, so I'd love to know what their reason is...Obviously they don't want me to know...Pete gave me some good advice, I might have to do what he did...Take Care and I hope your daughter, is doing alright. I'll say a prayer for her tonight...Thanks for ranting, cause I felt like ranting myself tonight...There...I feel better now...Good Night...
