I am very happy to hear from you. You're not 'the baby' here by any

means...we don't have 'em LOL simply newcomers to our site....so I am

very happy you have found us.

Yes, a neurologist visit can involve some pricking and poking, but it

won't last long, and you will get through it! After all, you have 535

ers to talk to here!

The manual neuro tests are simple; last test I had last year was the

same as the first one in the 1960's! lol i.e., with my eyes closed, and

standing touching my nose with forefinger, reflexes tested while seated,

a ballpoint pen drawn from my heel to my toes, and asking if I could

feel that,(duh!) also a tuning fork with vibrations used all over my

feet, legs and arms, I had to tell the Dr. when the vibrations stopped.

Easy stuff, a good thorough exam is an hour if I recall.

The EMG/NCV tests involve a bit more of what you call 'pricking' and

have much improved in 30 years. You may or may not even need this test,

since if your Dr. is trying to get a CMT diagnosis, a simple blood test

for DNA is done and sent to a lab. OK, one 'prick' there! Drs. CAN help

us. There are good ones out there!

Try not to worry and get what you need now. What a good time to really

start taking care of yourself.
