I was in water therapy last year before they knew I had CMT. Unfortunately I

cannot afford another Thirty dollars a week now. I felt better while in

therapy, than I have felt in years. If I could find a more affordable way to

do it I would.

Even water therapy takes some getting used to because of balance, but each

time I went, my overall balance seem to be better and definitely the pain and

mobility were better. Try it!

Traci,

Sometimes the local YMCA will have a class for arthritis or we have a pool

with our local Easter seals. It may be less to join the YMCA or maybe they

have a special program for disabilities.

I have been in warm water therapy for about a month. It is wonderful. My pain

is lots less now.

When I started, I was going to the chiropractor about once a week for the pain.

I tried staying away, but the pain was so bad that I had to go.

After starting the warm water therapy, I feel so much better.

I feel that the chiropractor will not be seeing me so much now.

I would recommend it for anyone. I don't know how long my insurance will allow

me to go. I go two times a week and I will go as long as I can. They say I am

strengthening my muscles now. Sometimes it tiring, but not painful.

OK I am new to this. I have been living with CMT or the knowledge that I

have it since 1971. I am 41 and I am interested in the water therapy but

how do I go about getting it. I have a hard time in grass but love the

water. Thanks, Traci

I do a lot of reading on this list, but do not talk much..........Ann

I joined the arthritis association and they have swimming exercises (in the

warm temperature water that is needed) for $4.00 each session. I go for

Tues. and Thursday sessions that is for beginners and advanced is Mon, Tues.,

and Fri. The two days are enough for me at this time. Still hate the

dressing and undressing and having wet hair.......but Hey! It is all

exercise that I need.

I am 76 yrs old and have had CMT for about 20 years. Worked until I was 72

yrs old, wear braces for foot drop and am having trouble with my balance so I

use a cane, walker and whoever will let me use their arm. I am now living

alone, but will not complain......I was on neurontin for a year and it was

really good for my pain. I gained alot of weight so went off the neurontin

and lost 20 pounds in 4 weeks. The neurontin left my body and the pain went,

also. I now just take 20 mg elival at bed time to help with sleep.
