Yes, Holly, this will work fine. Plastic forks are a great idea, and I've heard

of others using it that way, too. It might be better than the metal ones in

fact.

I'm often using it while typing or writing, and this keeps my fingers dry. So I

used a couple of sturdy plastic forks and wound the inch of bare wire in and out

the tines. I cut a narrow slot in the sponges so I could slide the fork/wire

in.
