I had saline implants for 14 months before getting very ill. I had a capsulectomy on the left breast and not on the right. My left breast was the breast that was giving me the most problem. My surgery took place in a plastic surgery center. I came home immediately after I woke up. The explant was not at all like the surgery I had when I was implanted. My implants were under the muscle so it was soooooo painful when I had them put in. I got up and ate dinner with my family the night I was explanted and took 1/2 of a pain pill. I rememember being a faint bit sick to my stomach from the anesthesia. I had a bad taste in my mouth too. My pain was not to bad at all. I did have a bollis does of prednisone because I had been on prednisone about 2 weeks before my surgery and they did that as a safety precaution. It has something to do with wound healing. I think they did a rib block as well because during my first surgery the anesthesiologist had a hard time getting my pain under control. I did not know this because I was out...they can tell from your vital signs. The surgeon placed a drain in the left breast and that was what was most painful(It was not bad), I noticed the pain more at that little sight than the other two incisions. The compression vest was not at all comfortable but was nessecary. I kept that on for about two weeks. The drain was in five days and I felt like a new person when I got it out. I went out and did a little Christmas shopping after I had the drain pulled out. I started feeling much better as each day passed from that point on. I had some immune system concerns so it actually took a few months to recover completely. My cultures from around the implant and tissue came back positive for staph that's what was making me soooo very sick. I was on antibiotics for a short time after but nothing except a multi vit. vit E and flaxseed oil (sometimes). Most all of my symptoms went away after I had my implants out. I am a young mommy of five that needed my energy as well as my health. The good Lord blessed me with a second chance on life...I feels so thankful for the recovery I have had. My lymph nodes flare up every now and then but nothing like they did when I had the implants. I will be thinking of you and please let us know how you are doing. Just know that you are doing the right thing and that your symptom will probably improve dramatic+ly. If you have any questions or just need the support I am here as well as many others.
