I don't know if this is true but I looked into the plug a while ago. I didn't get them for the same reason, silicone. But I talk to 2 women that had them and both get chronic nose bleed after getting them. I guess it clogs up the drainage into your nose so your eyes stay moist. But now they said their nose is dry all the time. They both said the nose bleeds aren't that bad, but they get them a lot. I still didn't want them. I asked my eye doctor about the nose bleed and he said he never heard anyone having that problem. Just thought I'd share my info with you. :)

My implants have been out for just under 2 years. I continue to decline in my health. I had saline textured for 3 years. I think the textured silicone shell of my saline implants is the cause all my problems. If I remember correctly I think they can remove them, I don't think they are permanent.

The surgery were they stitch them closed is permanent.

I am wondering do you still have your implants in ? Are you getting

them out soon? I know the dry eyes thing is terribly painful but

maybe if you get your implants out first that symptom might clear up

and then you can see if you really need to try something like that. I

think if I were in your case I would get explanted before anything

else. I certainly would be leary of putting silicone in my body since

you are having problems with it. Are your implants gel or saline and

how long have you had them? Are these plugs something that is

implanted into your eyes permanently? I wish JUstine was around, as

she is a nurse and might have better answers for you than I do. SOrry

I can't be of more help.

Yes my implants are still in... I'm working on getting them taken

out. It is a good idea to wait and see what happens once they come

out. That is good advice! And yes the plugs are permanent . I had

saline implants in 1979. I just had the MRI last week and I should

get the results today? My family doc will then refer me to the PS

here in Las Vegas. Keep me in prayer that the insurance will cover

the explantation because I cannot afford it on my soc. security

income! We have just enough money each month to cover our tithe and

bills and that's about it. I'm not complaining though... because

we're so blessed to be Richer in Christ than any bank account could

give us!

Thanks for the advice! Nose bleeds are something that I have

suffered with since childhood. Getting my nose packed is not a fun

thing while choaking on clots... I don't need to worry about the

plugs this is enough info along with the fact that they are made of

silicone... Dow won't pay up or shut up about the women they have

made sick already! Why invite their poducts into my body again to

cause more problems that they will blame on the victims as opposed to

taking responsibility for the damage that they have caused already?

I think that I've heard enough thank you ladies!!!!!! Big hugs for

all of you!

Wow... your implants were not that old and you still get sick? I am

so sorry to hear that. I don't remember if mine were textured or not

I will know soon enough. Whatever the so called new and improved

models were in 1979 I guess they really have not gotten any better

over the years. RATS! The TV crew is going to film my explantation

and I hope that when their viewers see these rotton black yucky

implants come out that it will stop more women from making this

mistake of being implanted! I hope and I pray for improvement after

they come out... getting some of my health back would be a blessing

that would keep me humble on my knees before God thanking Him for

miracles... I will pray for miracles for you too.

I had my implants for only 1 1/2 years when I got them out and my

symptoms started within 3 months of implantation, mine were also

textured, but I know of women with smooth who are even sicker than me

that had them maybe a little longer so I don't think it makes that

much difference what kind they are as much as how you as an

individual reacts to them. Some women don't get sick for 20 years

others like myself get ill right away. It is only my opinion that the

smooth may take longer to react from but that the disease is just as

bad in those who get sick from the smooth as from the textured, like

I said, I know of several who had smooth, but it is true they were

fine for 5 or 7 years or so before they got ill, but when they did

they were as ill or more so than me, so it is all bad, I do not

believe in a safe imlant. To me having 5 years with them and getting

sick isn't much better than getting sick in a year, it is all bad.

Good luck on your surgery and may you find better health

Deb,

My mother in law has these silicone tubes in her eyes, right in the

corner by her nose. If you look closely, you can just barely see

them. When she first got them, her eyes looked very strange.

I don't see her very often, as they are snowbirds, but I can tell you

that every time I see her now, her eyes look like hell. They are red

and inflamed. She seems to always have some irritation there,

whether it be excess tears or watery eyes, or white matter and gunky

stuff on her eyelashes.

She never had silicone in her body before this, as far as I know, not

anything foreign in her body except for these silicone duct tubes. To

me it is obvious she is having a reaction to them, but she doesn't

seem to mind or be concerned. They just accept whatever the doctor

tells them.

I can't tell you what to do, but based on what I have seen my mother

in law experience, I would say look for another option.

It will be local KVBC I can make copies I'm sure I also asked them if

it could be posted on someones saline or silicone web site if that is

possible.... I don't know when it will be yet... I just got

the " NORMAL MRI " of the breast back. Any ideas of how to deal with

this we know they don't last 22 years!

I wouldn't even think twice about what you have to do, but I realize

how hard it is financially. I had to borrow the money from my mom who

put it on her credit card. I did what I had to to get the implants

out and at 22 years old you have to remove them, somehow someway.

They are going to rupture eventually and then your problems will be

really serious.

Good luck to you

Wow, Deb! Tell us more! There are quite a number of Las Vegas

ladies on this group, and I am sure we would all like to know more

about this upcoming report.

Delinda Higinbotham, Beth Fisher and all the others at KVBC have been

totally awesome in covering this breast implant issue. They did a

story on me back in March of 2000, and after that story, did one on

Lori Gilmour who came forward after that one aired. Lori's story

aired in May of last year, and I heard they were going to do a follow

up on her last month, but Lori had a family emergency that prevented

her from completing the follow up interview.

They have always been sympathetic to our side of the issue, unlike

other channels in this town. Deb, you called a couple weeks ago, my

son told me, and he said you asked if I had seen the breast implant

report on TV--I didn't, so could you fill us in?

Tell us more what they are planning on airing for your story!

To All With 'Dry Eye' Problems,

I have found that "Naturale Tears" work just fine, as long as you use them frequently on a daily basis!

Blessings,
