Chinese dates are hard to find, but it is just a kind

of date. I never had to bother with them as my

platelets were OK. Try a produce store.

I'm afraid I don't. No doubt there is some substance

or phytochemical in Chinese dates that exert some kind

of positive effect in this regard, but what it might

be I don't know. Nor for that matter have I

personally seen any studies that prove this out, but

it is taken for truth by a large portion of the Hep C

community on an alternative medicine list I was on

last year.

Hi having worked in Kazakhstan on land for 2 years (plus and minus 40c in summer

and winter) some info from the British Antartic survey might be of use see if

you can find them.

Basically prevention better than cure.

Ensure well clothed, many layers etc avoid damp clothing and prolonged periods

outside. Keep well hydrated and avoid alcohol at all costs, it is dehydrating

and physiologically depressing plus inhibits systemic responses and

psychological recognition of cold etc.

Keep skin covered in extreme temps as frost nip and burn easy to get and slow to

show. If you have to whip it out for a pee make sure you shake well and are very

quick!!! A real potential problem guys.

Never dealt with hypothermia on my patch as the guys were well informed and I am

great nag!!!

Also had experience of open water swimming where hypothermia a real risk. No

clothes and in wet and cold water.( I am mad by the way)Early recognition, good

support and back-up the key.Warm gently inside first, warm air, warm fluids etc

then out. That's it really.

Well I have just signed on to this group.

I am currently working near Ian in Kazakhstan offshore in North Caspian Sea.

As I am an Australian living in Darwin (tropics) and working offshore for

eight years in Thailand, I am some what new to this icy environment. If any

one has some useful info on Hypothermia, Frost bite and or any info on cold

related matters, the info would be most welcome.

Yes I do. Jill works in X-ray, my Brother is the manager of the Laundry etc,

My Brother in-law has a private practice in the Private, he also runs the E

& A at the Private and now at Palmeston and my sister trained at Darwin

Hospital of old and is his practice manager.

You could say that we have an interest there.

Take care buddy and I think of you when I get home in two weeks time.

Marta...I am sorry this wasn't everything you were hoping for(the

dessert) but for my sake and the rest of your friends around here I

hope you stay local...It never hurts to pray Marta but I am sure

there are many people who pray for you on a daily basis...myself

included....I sure hope this next week is a little less stressful for

you.......

Pat, I went to AZ and checked on a job on the Navaho reservation,

but the (free) house is right next to the clinic and in spite of the

fact that they *say* there's no call, I would be expected to answer

the door at all hours of the night and treat people. Plus they

bring dead or dying people there, you know, trauma from car

accidents and falling off cliffs, etc. Just because you are closer

than an ER. Eeeyuew!

There's more stuff, medical type stuff, that concerns me, plus the

pay is rock bottom, like below doctor minimum wage. There should be

no problem getting loan repayment, but that wage is ridiculous and I

looked at the formula for earning the incentive pay and it just

would be too hard for me to get the incentive, I believe. It is

largely subjective, like much of medicine.

Hi Marta... I thought about calling you today, but couldn't find your number.

Will look one more place. Are there any jobs at DRMC? Don't despair- God does

have a plan. A huge pine tree 30 " diameter, about 75 feet tall fell down in my

yard last night! also into the neighbors yard. About 25 feet from my bedroom-

I guess my Ambien was working. hate to have to pay someone to cut the thing up

and haul it off- but I don't do chain saws. I've joined a group at the health

club to get my body moving again and off sugar. First appt with the trainer

tomorrow- Betsy
