That way the nurse can >ask the doctor when the doctor has a free moment and can get back to you with >an answer. Things don't quite work that way here. Doctor's work office hours, outside of office hours, one goes to an " after hours " clinic or the emergency room which has no relationship to your doctor. My doctor's office, which has 6 doctors in in closes for the holidays, no one is there for 2 weeks. They only have 1 nurse who works 3 half-days a week and she doesn't take messages or answer questions like they do in the US. This problem isn't really new - like a couple of years at least - it's just that I just realized it might be meaningful. I've dealt with pain and the accompanying sleepless/restless nights for nearly all my life. But, this feeling of being tossed around in a tornedo started maybe a year ago. At first, it was infrequent and I always just thought it was tension/irritability since I was having some really bad times. The past 9 months or so, I've felt so terrible and seemed to be going down, down, down, that I really haven't even been thinking straight, if at all. Then about 3 weeks ago, at my last visit with my rheumatologist, she changed my meds from Celebrex to Mobic, because the pain in my back had gradually grown to excruciating and I wasn't dealing well with anything. The change has made a huge difference, the 'knife-in-the- back' has eased to just a tightness and I actually feel like doing things, and have been increasing my activities and feeling more alert as well. Even so, this horrible 'nightmare' stuff has persisted. And, the other day after such a night, it suddenly occurred to me that maybe it wasn't related to the pain. I don't know. Anyway, it will be mid-January before I can talk to either of my doctors, so I just have to wait. I was mostly curious if anyone else experienced anything similar. -- kjg@...
