Guest guest
AC means the current reverses itself, usually quickly, like 60 times a second. The " A " stands for " Alternating " , and it means reversing itself between two directions. DC means it keeps running in one direction. " D " stands for " Direct " , and that means it keeps flowing one-way. It's the same as a One-Way street, exactly. The problem I am seeing over the years with AC is that the reversals seem to nullify themselves. No sooner does the microbe start to get inactivated by electrons piling up into an imbalance, then the current suddenly goes the other way and restores the balance. This can leave the microbe with a net charge of zero. That means it's back where it started, and still " activated " , able to cause infection again. It's similar to when your driveway has dirt in it, and you get out the hose and spray it. At first the dirt goes down the driveway. Then, if you run to the other end of the driveway, and spray the dirt in the opposite direction, it moves back up the driveway. Sooner or later the dirt will drift off the driveway to the sides and some at each end. But this is not as fast as if you just stayed at one end and kept pushing it all off in one direction with the spray from the hose. Of course, if you run it too long in one direction, there are things that tend to get out of balance in the body. Chemical changes occur around electric currents when run through the body. They are mild but over time, they can pile up. This is why you need to switch it backwards every five to ten minutes so that this is minimized, if not eliminated. Back to the driveway. If you run the hose for five minutes from one end, a lot of the dirt goes out the other end of the driveway. You then run for another five minutes in the other direction, and some dirt may loosen better in that direction and be washed off the other end. Does this make a clear picture of why a reversing (AC) current may not be as fast or dependable as a persistent DC current that goes in one direction just like the spray on the driveway? bG
