Guest guest Posted November 10, 2004 Report Share Posted November 10, 2004 Home Depot sells an analog meter for about $20 that has a 10 amp DC scale on it. You cannot hold it on a battery for long or it will blow. I think you get 10 seconds at 10 amps before you blow the fuse or the meter. 6V lantern batteries have 7 amps in them- make the wrong move with a meter that is only designed for milliamps, and you get a blown fuse. If the skin's resistance drops with time, the pot is used to adjust the current to the desired level. Without the meter you do not know what current you are getting. You could go and get a packet of ten of the correct amp rating and correct time curve, slo blo, fast blo. If you take the blown fuse in they should be able to match it for you.
