My newest and most bothersome symptom is twitching of my right index finger. This twitching begins at the base of that finger [where it joins the wrist] and goes all the way to the tip. There is no way I could even try to twitch my finger like this. It goes rapidly -- side to side. It comes and goes without warning and sometimes causes me to loose my grip on things. Sometimes my thumb is also involved. And sometimes I get shooting/cramping pains in the wrist which travel up both my index finger and thumb. -- Kiana bornfree@... Pain in all the joints of my fingers and wrists and at times that shooting pain. I have even had the sensation of electric currents shooting down from my wrist through my hands and fingers. I also have that hip pain but for me it's really the joint between the hip and thigh that I feel it in. I don't think I could survive without pain medication. Don't be afraid to take what your doctor prescribes. Whatever works. We will get through this but in the meantime we shouldn't have to suffer so terribly. Guest guest
Hi Liz, Strange, I just had the shooting pains in my finger for the first time yesterday, I have had them elsewhere over the years, but this one was in my little finger and woke me up out of sound sleep. Lasted only a few minutes thank the Lord. I take Neurontin, and that alleviated many of those shooting pains for me. Hugs, Marta NJ >From: sixnations <sixnations@...> > >Hmmmm. Do you take calcium / magnesium / E, etc to support your nerves? We call these shooting pains " zingers " - it si by these " zingers " (after rife treatment, then herxing with these & other symptoms) that I realized I must also have lyme. Oh, happy day... It's not constant but was real bad when I first started on Mepron for the Babesia. Yes, I do take supplements such as calcium magnesium aspertate, MSM, Vitamin C with bioflavonoids, (Tried SAMe but it's too expensive), Olive leaf extract, horsechestnut extract (for circulation.. it has worked wonders on my legs!) and of course I live on Acidopholus and try to eat yogurt as well. Yeast was a big problem for me for awhile. It sounds strange, but I often feel this entire illness is due to a re-wiring of my body and my life. So much has changed. I have gone through the depression for years and after coming out of it developed clairvoyant abilities and also a talent for writing spiritual, angel, and love poetry. I also had a dream that there was a group of people around me all dressed in white and I was in my bed asking them what they were doing. They were holding my hands up. They said they were giving me " healing hands " . After that I looked at them(my hands) in the dream and they were glowing white light and warm. For weeks after that dream I would get those electrical sensations off and on. This was before I knew I had lyme and before I worked in the medical profession. Something I had never thought of doing before. Now what I get is even more intense. It even shoots up my arms at times. I am involved with a lot of spiritual people now and I seem to look at my disease in two ways. One, as just something I was unfortunate to pick up. But at other times I wonder if all we are going through is in reality labor pains of our great mother earth and her ascension. Are we perhaps some of the chosen ones who will help in this process? I know I sound wacky to some of you but that is why I asked another time if any of you were involved or becoming interested in spiritual pursuits? In appreciating the small things in life and finding out what the true meaning of life is and our purpose in carrying this disease? I just don't know why, but I feel it is all connected somehow to my illness. This might not be for everyone, but it sure helps me to think that perhaps we are some kind of pioneers in the greater scope of things. Ok... my Lyme brain is off the wall now right? lol.. I am serious though. If anyone else has had such thoughts or is intrigued by this, please write to me either on the list or privately. This can't all be in vain. You can buy a machine from the Sharper Image or even alot of manicurists have them at the salons and charge anywhere from $5.-$10. for a dip. Guest guest
Hi Lorraine, Gee, I must have missed the post where you first asked about pursuing spiritual avenues.....a few years ago, I went through a stage (that's what I call it) of searching for more of the meaning of life, strangely this was when I was healthy, but I was grieving the loss of my pet (this may sound wacky too!), it really threw me into a tailspin, and I just had to know if she was OK, I tried self-hypnosis, automatic writing (scared the bejeebers out of me!) and had what I thought were dreams that predicted my finding my next pet....I don't think this stuff is crazy at all, and I think each of us reach a point in our lives when we want to explore more about life, and the other side, and mysteries of the mind. I even went to the Edgar Cayce Association in Virginia to visit his home and museum there, searching for answers I guess, and I think I found them. I would be interested in what you are discovering, but for the respect of the rest of the group I think it should be via private mail, as this list is Lyme issues, and not all will be receptive. One thought that comes to mind is that lyme very frequently makes people hypersensitive - hearing, smell, taste - why not perceptiveness as well? Guest guest
And my shooting pains WERE coming from all inside me, which is why I took Neurontin, They are barely noticeable now, guess the Elavil does work better. I do get the shooting, stabbing type pain in my right foot, where the open wound is still healing from the coral poisioning. When this happens, mostly at night, The Percocet takes the immediate 'sting' away and the ice pack numbs the area. The wound shows skin and was so deep I am sure those nerves were exposed... ~ G > My shooting pains are always definitely well inside my feet/legs and do not > involve any breaks in my skin. That's why I asked in an earlier post about shooting pains in hands, finger and forearms, nothing outside to cause them, they are due to the nerves, and nerves alone. ~>Becky M. > >
