Guest guest
Hi all, I had an experience the other day I didn't know how to handle. i had to make a trip to the mall, which I usually try to avoid because after walking on cement for just a few minutes will cause a lot of pain later-but this was necessary. I stopped at a cell phone kiosk to ask a qustion about operating my new phone, the guy asked me about my plan, if I knew about discounts available- which was nice. He then asked me what type of work I did, I told him I didn't work, I was disabled-thinking that maybe me being on Social Security would entitle me to a discount. He looked at me and said " You look good for being disabled " ! I didn't know how to take that-it was like he was one of those who thinks you have to be in a wheelchair to be disabled. I've run into people like that before, I'll get weird looks when I pull into a handicap parking spot-I have handicap plates-but people have made rude comments about that too. Guess I shouldn't let it bother me, but i haven't thought of any good replies to what those idiots say. I did end up getting a discount, my husband is a disabled vet, but I did take offense at the guy's remark. Just had to get this off my chest- thanks for letting me vent.
