I can say this I aslo take a muscle relaxer and mild sleeping pill sometimes and

last night I tolk Lyrica and later muscle relaxer and all day today I was kind

of sleepy or just not focusing right I don't know how to explain this but when I

had my hair done today they would be talking and it was as though i couldn't

concentrate!! oh my! but maybe I will get use to them " lyrica " I mean and I agree

if anyone in the group has been on this med. for a while let the group know how

it worked for them.Shirley

Sharona nd group,

is lyrica only for the pain associated with diabetis or shingles?

I have read online that they block nerves for people who had/have shingles or

diabetes related...

I wonder if my husband should ask his doc about it?

thanks.

here the link to lyrica.

-HI Shirley maybe your dose is too high and you need a lower one.

what kind of dose are you on?? And what where you on before?? I know

my PM dr told me it was stronger than Neurotin so I had to go on a

lower dose of lyrica. But I stil would like to know from someone else

who has taken it awhile. I think Katrina was on it, so maybe we will

hear from her soon. take care and if it continues to bother you be

sure and call your dr and check with them. Sharon Group Owner

I had cervical fusion twice. The first time I had to wear a collar for 4

months the second they used plates and screws to fix two levels. I didn't have

to use special pillows. Nor had a problem sleeping with anyone. But everyone is

different.

Hi Sharon,

Sorry to be so scarce. I hope all is well with you.

I do take this medication still. The Doc switched me from Neurontin

to Lyrica several months ago.It took some time to adjust. The big side

affect for me was the sleepiness. They started out small with me and

have gone up recently(300 mg. a day) and I can still have some

sleepiness after this much time has gone by. Some of that could have to

do one of the other meds I take too though. Even with the additional

sleepiness it has been worth it to have a decrease in that horrible leg

pain and burning I had before.

It is so true that what is good for one won't neccessarily be good for

another, but I have been very impressed with this medication even with

the additional drowsiness.

I HTH. Hope you are still recovering well from your surgery.

Take care. Hugs,

Katrina :-)

Hi Shirley good luck on your surgery Mon I will keep you in my

prayers. Hopefully you won't be in the hospital long just a few days

and then back home to rest. And in a few weeks you should be feeling

alot better. As for a trip your dr will probably tell you several

weeks to months before you should do that. But ask him on your after

surgery checkup he should be able to tell you then. Also I think

most pain drugs constipate people some dr's suggest a stimulant but

I'd rather take something like extra fiber ( the new kind you can

stir into anything cause its invisible) or raisins or anything that

will help you. Everyone is different so if you know what kind of

foods help you just make sure and eat those as much as possible.

Good luck again I will pray you feel alot better after your surgery

on Mon. Drop us a note when you feel up to posting again. Best
