April,

A few days ago you asked HOW an EMG/NVC shows reinnervation. I couldn't

post then until I found my Adult Baseline EMG/NCV Electrodiagnostic

report done June 19/1999. This was done by Campion, (MD and half a

dozen other degrees) He specialized in Electromyography and has two

offices in the Los Angeles area. Email me at liliwigg@... and I will

give you his phone numbers and addresses.

As I said the overall EMG/NCV study this time showed everything to be in

the 'normal' range. I will share with you the following about the

reinnervation:

" In the anterior compartment muscles, although there was no obvious

decrease in the number of unit firing, virtually every unit was long,

large andd polyphasic, indicating reinnervation. Similiar changes were

seen in the intrinsic muscles of the feet and hands. More proximally,

motor units were entirely normal in frequency amplitude, configuration

and duration. There were no fasciculations or abnormal discharges " ... he

continues in his 'comment' section " With extensive reinnervation in the

anterior compartment muscles, it is possible that she has a neuronal

form of Charcot Marie Tooth. "

I had 1 and 1/2 EMG/NVC done when I was 15, the 1/2 at UCLA which was

horrendous and I begged to go gome (I was 15) the other one no one ever

told me results, so I have nothing to compare my Adult Baseline with. I

wish I did. So, from age 15 to age 47, something very interesting was

going on with my CMT, since at age 15 I was in bad shape, meaning, rigid

muscles, spasms, way off balance, falls, etc. Don't have that now.

Interesting huh?
