Guest guest
Did you ever try "water therapy" in a heated pool? That's relaxing and the therapist takes you through exercises. I had a lumbar laminectomy in '91 and that was $20,000, now I just had a 3 level anterior cervical disk fusion and it cost just about $50,000 so far. Thank God I have insurance, but I'm still getting statement from the insurance company how much they're paying out to the Neurosurgeon and hospital. The fusion was done on September 21, 2004. I think you should check into some kind of insurance....nothing is cheap with Dr.'s and surgery anymore. Guest guest
isn't working out in the water great!!! I would die without it, ( and the hottub). Several years ago when I had my first attempt at the pain clinic I had asked for water therapy. at first they refused. the idiot thought I was trying to get drugs. I through such a fit with the director that they finally scheduled me for the water therapy. I'm cheap. I gave them two visits and told them they had to teach me everything they know. I had access to a pool and figured that at $20.00 copay 3 times a week, it was cheaper to buy a membership to the county pool. Sso I started with just walking in the water and doing those exercises. then after a few months I added a water arthritis class. then a few months later I added water aerobics. then i added a higher intensity water aerobics. I have been going for 3 years now. I don't do everything and I have to make some adjustments but it has been wonderful. I rarely feel pain in the pool. I have seen people in wheelchairs make amazing recoveries there. and the nice thing is that they have a current channel there. it about 2 feet wide and 3.5 feet deep. there is a current going through it and you walk against it. they say that 15 minutes of walking is equivalanent to 30 minutes walking on land. it's great. I walked for 30 minutes in there the other day and was really sweating... Of course the best part is being able to sit in the hot tub afterwards. searching for answers > > > > My story: > > chronic pain in both shoulders 15 years > > chronic pain in cervical area of spine 15 years > > cracked shoulder blade in off road motocycle accident - not sure if > still an issue > > spend hundreds on massages > > recently sought chiropractic help and made matters worse > > Any suggestions??? > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
The water therapy was great, it just didn't do anything to help the pain. I used the pool at the CP Center. Even in the warm pool my lumbar area was a big spasm, even they couldn't believe it didn't relax that area. I was relaxing for everything else though. :-) I know when I was there a woman came every day and she was in a wheelchair, they had to lower her in with a lift and she'd dangle in the lift while she was in the pool. It was sad to see what same people have to deal with for life. Insurance is a biggie when you've got an injury. The price of everything is outrageous. My co-pay when I went for PT was $12.00 a visit 3 x's a week for 3 months and that was a small fortune WITH insurance. $432.00 and it did nothing for me. I went years ago numerous different time for my lumbar area and then my neck before my surgery. I had the ultrasound, tens, exercises, massage, you name it I had it. I wish it would of worked. I'm so glad it's worked for you and helped...that's wonderful. I pray it continues to help you. :-) ~Kathy searching for answers> > > > My story:> > chronic pain in both shoulders 15 years> > chronic pain in cervical area of spine 15 years> > cracked shoulder blade in off road motocycle accident - not sure if > still an issue> > spend hundreds on massages> > recently sought chiropractic help and made matters worse> > Any suggestions???> > > > > > > > > > >
