NOW I'M NOT MAKING LIGHT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO GO TO SLEEP.

I KNOW THAT IT CAN BE AND IS A BIG, BIG ISSUE WITH MANY OF US.

{ ME INCLUDED}

I JUST DECIDED TO QUIT FIGHTING IT AND GO WITH THE FLOW

{IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN}

MAN I SURE DO HATE THIS.

IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S BEEN A MONTH OF SUNDAYS SINCE I HAD A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP. {I

BET THAT SURE SOUNDS FAMILIAR,HUH?}

I BET THAT I'VE ONLY HAD ABOUT 4,OR FIVE HOURS SLEEP IN THE PAST ,OH 56

HOURS,OR SO.

[sINCE 4P M. FRIDAY THE 4TH TILL NOW]

MY WIFE TOLD ME THIS MORNING THAT I WAS JUST TRYING TOO HARD TO GO TO SLEEP.

I GUESS THAT JUST MAY BE TRUE.

IT SEEMS LIKE THE MORE I TRY THE HARDER IT IS TO EVEN MANAGE A YAWN THESE

DAYS.BETWEEN HAVING SLEEP APENA AND HAVING MY NECK SO MESSED UP IT'S JUST HARD

FOR ME TO GO TO SLEEP.

I'M GOING TO TRY AND GO TO ONE OF MY OLD DOCTORS THIS MORNING TO SEE IF MAYBE

HE CAN HELP ME DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

IF I WAS STILL A DRINKING MAN I'D JUST DRINK MYSELF INTO A DRUNKEN STUPOR.

NO, THAT'S JUST NOT AN OPTION FOR ME ANYMORE..

I GUESS THAT I'LL JUST KEEP GOING TILL I JUST FALL DOWN AND GO TO SLEEP.

{MORE OR LESS}

WOULDN'T YOU JUST KNOW IT. I'M STARTING TO GET DROUSY ,AGAIN{ABOUT THE

UPTEENTH TIME TONIGHT}

Y'ALL TAKE CARE NOW AND BE SAFE,OK?

Hi Larry, I have had chronic insomnia for many years. For the past

ten years or so, much of it is due to chronic pain waking me at all

hours. I've tryed all the traditional sleep meds (ambien, etc.) but

I also have tendency to walk in my sleep and, at times, do some

dangerous things in my sleep. So those are not option for me. My

psychiatrist had me try Seroquel at night. I take between 100-150mg

at night and get some much needed rest with it. I still have a

tendency to wake every hour or two, but that is just me. I've heard

great results from others who have tryed this. At first, you may

get a slight hangover effect, but it goes away. I take it about

half an hour before I'm ready for bed. As I stated above, I've

heard some very good reports from it. And for me, it allows me to

fall asleep and sleep as much as I can. I have a serious sleep

disorder that prevents me from sleeping more and an hour or two at a

time, but I do go back to bed and take as many hours as I can, I

hope this helps some.

Peace, ann

Larry not being able to sleep is way to familiar with me. I was like that before

they put me on elavail. Between the pain and stress my body just would not shut

down so I could sleep. My Doc says I have an over active mine. Even with the

elavail I sometimes miss a nights sleep.

Hi all,

First of all, Larry- I hope you didn't take offense over my comments about you

not being able to sleep. I actually lost sleep worrying about if I had phrased

it all wrong, the last thing I want to do is offend anybody in this wonderful

group. I guess I'm just scared as to what the future holds for me, and am trying

to get answers to problems that have already occurred, and will probably occur.

I apologise if my comments came out wrong, it seems since I've been on opiates,

my brain doesn't function as well as it used to, I'm grasping for words for

objects I know, and sentences come out scrambled, and I really try to think

before I speak, or write. At first I freaked and thought it was an early onset

of Alzheimer's, but my dr. says it's the meds.

I've also been on Elavil, for sleep(I was working nite shifts) and it's also

supposed to help a little with pain, I had the beginnings of the arthritis that

is now all over my body. I started at .25mg and went up to 1mg. I went off that

gradually and worked my way up through the ladder of sleeping pills. I even

tried natural pills. Now I just try to get in whatever i can at nite, and take a

nap or doze throughout the day. What a life, actually, it's not a life. I still

have to contend with one more surgery, and deal with this COPD. Does it ever

stop? I already know it doesn't. so I rely on my husband and y'all.

Thank you

HI JEAN,

NOTHING THAT YOU SAID TO ME OFFENDED ME. I HAVE JUST BEEN HAVING A HARD TIME

GETTING TO SLEEP.

IT FINALLY HIT ME THAT I NEED TO GET BACK ON THE ANTI-DEPRESSANTS THAT I WAS

ON BEFORE.

I KNOW NOW THAT MY JUST STAYING HERE IN THIS SMALL APARTMENT WITH NOTHING TO

DO IS REALLY GETTING TO ME.

THE FACT THAT I CAN NO LONGER WORK AND NOT HAVING ANYTHING TO DO

BUT SIT HERE 24/7 IS REALLY GETTING TO ME. I NEED TO BE DOING

SOMETHING,SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE.

I'M GOING TO TRY AND GO TO SEE A DOCTOR TOMORROW AND GET A SCRIPT FOR THE

MEDICINE THAT I NEED. I HOPE THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO GET SOMETHING TO HELP ME

SLEEP AS WELL.

THIS STUFF IS REALLY GETTING TO ME,AND I NEED TO GET SOME HELP.

WELL,TIME TO STOP.

TAKE AS BEST CARE AS YOU CAN AND BE SAFE.

Well, it's after midnite and here I am, sleepless in Vegas. There's

tons of things to do here, but it's beginning to be like L.A., you

have to be young, rich, good-looking and healthy to be able to take

advantage of it.

I hope you find a med. that works for you, one of my friends is

going on Cymbalta, and I'll be interested to find out how that works

for her, and her side-effects. She also is dealing with back and

neck pain and sleeplessness and depression.

Take care of yourself
