Guest guest
Hi Babs I get this all the time now. Used to be it didn't happen very often but it seems the worse my nerves are damaged the worse it gets. Sometimes it will just be my leg twitch and jump but others it will be my whole body. And then sometimes my whole body will freeze up like I am stiff as a board for a min. I think this one is related to my implant. I asked my dr about them long ago and he told me it was the nerves firing mostly from damaged and they get totally mixed up from being squished and smashed as some of them are. I really hate the full body one that always stops me in my tracks. But it usually happens when I have left my implant on for days and never turned it off. It constantly sends signals to the nerve root to try and stop the pain in my leg. But if its killing me I am not about to turn it off. IT was even weirder when I first got it, if I went to lay down too fast and I had it turned wayyyyyyy up I'd get like an electric shock. The first time at the hospital it happened I couldn't even talk or move. They were putting my bed down and that triggered it. I had no way to tell them STOP your driving me crazy here. After that I figured out how to warn someone if it happened because it did every once in awhile for the first year. I wonder if I ever get fixed if the nerves will stop this stuff ?? I know it may take years for them to heal IF they do and I am pretty sure my foot has permanant damage by now after 6 yrs of this. will I ever be able to wear regular shoes again and not have to worry about IF it will kill my foot ?? I wonder I've never talked to anyone who had surgery and got fixed that had what I do. sorry to babble Sharon Group Owner > > I was just sitting here thinking about your wife having the seizures. And the fact that the doctors say that they can not find a reason for them. When my daughter had them she went limp and her eyes rolled back. But I wanted to share with you something that I go through. At when I lay down. I have spasms that cause my whole body to jerk and jump. This only happens when I am laying down to rest. They are very disturbing at times. I still do not know why I have them but I assume it is something to do with my back. Maybe she needs to see a spinal doctor to see if it could be related to something in her spine. > Hugs and Prayers, Babs >
Guest guest
Hi Babs sorry its me Sharon that has an implant. I have a dorsal spinal stimulator. I had it put in almost a 1 1/2-ago. Hopefully if they ever do decide to do my surgery it will be removed. Its a 3 in. Metal disc in your back hip. Took alot of getting used too but it did help me for a long time. With my worsening Spinal stenosis though it is making it worse and I rarely use it much anymore. Plus the dr told me it won't last more than 4-5 yrs as much as I used it then the battery inside it will have to be changed in a hospital. And the newer ones are much smaller than what I have. It will be strange though not to feel that tingling feeling I get from it sometimes lol, I have gotten so used to it now. They did a trial at first for a week to see if it would help me. Put the wires in taped up my entire back.( I told the dr later when he took it all off ) Don't you think it was a little much But they don't want water or germs to get into your back of course so they have too. Then they gave me an external one I could put on my waist and remove to take a shower. That part was easy but the pain relief was instant so I said after two days WHEN can we do this I want it NOW!!!! and I got it about 2 weeks later. Anyway if you are interested there is a link about it. Its mainly to help with sciatic pain, from the back down the leg it blocks the signal from getting there with small electrical like impluses. Kinda cool though when I have to tell people they look at me weird though. But hey if it works I'd do almost anything to get less pain. Mine are so strong at times my whole body jerks bad. That had to be awful not to be able to tell anyone they are hurting you. As for electric shocks I get them all the time. They are just awful. And sweep through my entire body. > Hugs and Prayers, Babs >
