Sharon you are right that doctors don't always know what they are doing. A doctor put in my friends medical records she had aids. My friend got tested by another doctor and didn't have it. They sued the doctor and won the case.

When I got hurt at work I had a doctor talk very ugly to me saying that there was nothing wrong with my elbow it was all in my head. I was so upset I left out the room crying the plant nurse was there I demanded to be seen by another doctor. That doctor found that my tendon was severely messed up and set me up for my operation. I always get a second opinion on things now.

I can not believe this!!!!

This is terrible! It it is inexcusable especially when you are

talking about something that is going to end in death. I can not

believe they could allow that to happen to your brother in law. And

that poor person out there somewhere not knowing what he needs to

know.

Is your brother inlaw going to let them know their mistake so that

they can find the right person for the right films?

I hope your brother in law will be ok and be able to get things back

in order to live the rest of his life as he so chooses.

I think it is so true that we are the ones in charge of our health

care and we are the ones that have to manage it. We may be fortunate

enough to find the right Doc ,that does his job as he is suppose to,

but ultimately we must be on top of it all.

I am one who has gone second and third opinions for my spine and my

RSD. And will do so for the Arach also.(Still praying that that one

is not there)

Just a few of my rantings,

Katrina :-)

OMG how horrifying an experience! Sharon, that is just terrible for your brother-in-law. I mean it's great that they were mistaken but still, the stress of all that is unimaginable.

Katrina said it best here:I think it is so true that we are the ones in charge of our health care and we are the ones that have to manage it. We may be fortunate enough to find the right Doc ,that does his job as he is suppose to, but ultimately we must be on top of it all.

We HAVE TO BE OUR OWN ADVOCATES! My mom is 84 and step dad 90, still living on their own but so many issues coming up for them as they continue to age and I think this is one of the hardest parts for them. So many older folks were raised with the idea of " turning it over the Dr. " and that just isn't safe to do these days. With Doctors pushed to work us like a production line in order to qualify to get paid by our insurance companies, they just can't give the quality care that was given in the past. Health Care in the US is just in such a terrible state. I pray that somehow it could be improved but I have little hope for that.

that is crazy. did they start him on any cancer meds. they should have to

be held accountable in some way for that. that is totally ridiculous. what

if he didnt want to go thru with treatment, because he looked up his options

on the web or something and decided to go on his own terms. instead of

dealing with painful radiation or something (i know nothing on the subject

of cancer) but if i thought i was dying and it would be painful; i might

want to end it in my own way; you know. god was watching out when he got

sent to that other doctor. im glad hes ok and that it can be cleared up

(his left lung)

take care

my first surgery two years ago went great, but i wish i had gotten a second

opinion about my fusion before getting that done. i wish i had tried a pm

doctor first. my fusion went great, but that which hurt before the surgery

still hurts; more now then before. those discs may have needed to be fused

but they could have waited as that was not what was causing the pain.
