Hi Glenna, sorry that pain brings you to our group. Sounds like the disc that is ruptured is pressing against spinal cord. I have had two different fusions for the same problems. I went through therapy, the shots only to end up having the surgery. You can always get a second opinion to help with your decision.

Hugs and Prayers, Babs

Hi Glenna sorry to hear about your pain. Somehow your nerves are

being compressed in there and they will probably eventually do a CAT

scan or mylogram to find out more. They show more soft tissue damage

than an MRI can. It sounds like it is either worsening or they

overdid it with you at PT. I had, have DDD in my neck also along

with a ton of other problems. Had surgery almost 2 yrs ago and its

almost pain free now. DDD can return though at anytime so I am very

careful of my neck now. As for the shots some people they help some

they don't you'll know by the second one if they will help. Usually

drs do those before doing surgery. Do you remember which levels were

involved?? not that it matters any part of the neck can hurt like

heck. I know I waited almost a year from my first diagnoses and

problems to find a surgeon to help me, several wouldn't and by the

time they did my surgery I was ready to chop my own neck off the

pain was so intense and NOTHING not all the meds they could give me

helped at all. But as Babs said if your worried go get a second

opinion I would suggest you do anyway. No surgery is foolproof and

as people here will tell you they don't always work as well as mine

did. At least my neck one did, my back did not. Best wishes and

welcome again sorry you are hurting so much. Sharon Group Owner

Hello Glenna and welcome to the group. We all welcome you and hope to be of some help to you . I hope that you will be able to find some relief from your pain. I have cervical disk herniation at the C4-5 level as well as disk protrusion at the C5-6 & C6-7 levels. I also have a bulging disks at the L4-5 and protrusion at the L5-S1 level. All of us in this group can understand where you are coming from pain wise, and we know how the pain is taking it's toll on you both physically and

emotionally. I myself have pain in my neck and shoulders 24/7 and am on some strong pain meds in order to be able to function in a limited way. Each day I awake to intense pain in my neck and both shoulders. I know where you are when it comes to the intense pain and the stress and worry about having surgery. I wish that I could give you a more specific answer as to what you should do,but I can't. Come here and vent when you need to do so. There will always be

someone here that will respond to you and will give you an encouraging word ,or will just be here for you. MAY YOU HAVE A BETTER DAY TODAY THAN YESTERDAY AND NOT AS GOOD A DAY AS TOMORROW. TAKE AS BEST CARE AS YOU CAN AND BE SAFE. LARRY Glenna <glennamckay2002@...> wrote: Good afternoon, Here is my story....about 2 months ago I woke to unbelievable pain. I know that the pain can cause you to want to give up. I've been there and know what it is like to hurt 24/7. Like I said I hurt every day,and know what you are going through with the pain in your neck and shoulders. I hope that I have been able to help you.
