Guest guest
My surgeon told me there might be problems with my voice or throat due to him working between the nerves for the voice box and swallowing. I only had trouble swallowing for several weeks. I am sorry to hear you all are still having problems. > > Seems there are a bunch of us with the same problem I too had a > cervical fusion almost 2 yrs ago and to this day I STILL choke on > food and pills even tiny ones. Guest guest
ok the swallowing and trouble speaking really worries me. I'm having a hard enough time swallowing pills. and if I couldn't talk I couldn't do my job. BTW I have heard from the nuerosurgeon's office but I still don't have an appt made. Problems with neck After surgery Seems there are a bunch of us with the same problem I too had a cervical fusion almost 2 yrs ago and to this day I STILL choke on food and pills even tiny ones. Of course the dr's told me it would go away, which I didn't believe but I never realized how many of us had been affected this way. Guest guest
talk to your dr about it and he can probable give you more answers. The speaking is not a big issue for me just my voice changed and is softer, no big deal. As for the swallowing and pills, we all face that especially when you take as many as we do, geez I think I take 30 a day or something close to that. The swallowing of food is not a huge issue either, would I trade these two back for not having surgery? HECK NO!!!! My neck pain is almost entirely gone, it still bothers me when I overdo or lift something too heavy or tug my neck a certain way BUT it has never been as bad as it was BEFORE my surgery then my neck hurt ALL the time it even hurt to hold up my head, it felt too heavy to support it. And the nerve pain I had ooooooowwwwwwww was intense to say the least. So please don't get scared off from surgery go talk to you dr and surgeon and then you will have to decide for yourself. But I for one would never go back and NOT have it done. Now my back mmmmmmm thats another matter, first and second surgery DID not help that. SO I go for #3 Take care and please talk to YOUR dr, we all are different in how we feel Before and after surgery. Guest guest
WOW, if I had problems talking I'd go bonkers. The tightness in the throat area is bad enough to deal with. I don't know how they can't do something for you. I had it done from the front also. ~Kathy Re: Problems with neck After surgery ok the swallowing and trouble speaking really worries me.
