Guest guest
It has been happening with all kinds of places.. I am on earthlink and get an average of 5 of those spoofs a month. They always say two things: 1. Check the entire headers and the path should show you where it is really going. 2. If you are EVER in doubt, log in at the bookmark you already have and go from there. Most places like to get these spoofs sent to them.. usually at spoof@... (the company's name and either.com, .net, etc.) Remember, NO company will EVER ask you to divulge personal info in an email. Most places like banks have a special mail service, on their website, which is secure. But, even there, they are NOT going to ask this info! missdanigyrl wrote: That has been happening with Suntrust too! Be careful and never give your personal or account information to an email request. > I RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM A FRIEND OF MINE AND THOUGHT I WOULD SEND IT TO YOU ALL FOR YOUR INFORMATION. > > IT WAS TITLED: DO YOU USE EBAY? > > THIS IS WHAT IT SAID: > > I RECEIVED AN EMAIL THAT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS FROM EBAY, IT ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY INFORMATION IN MY ACCOUNT THERE, IT SAID THAT IF I DID NOT UPDATE THE INFO THERE MY USE OF EBAY WOULD BE RESTRICTED. THERE WAS A URL TO CLICK ON THAT WOULD TAKE ME TO THE PAGE I NEEDED TO UPDATE THE INFO. > > THIS IS A PHONY!! I READ ABOUT IT IN SMART COMPUTING MAGAZINE, IT IS CALLED PHISHING, THE PAGE IS SENT TO MILLIONS OF SITES IN HOPES THAT PEOPLE WILL GO TO THAT SITE AND GIVE THEIR PASSWORDS AND CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. IF YOU GET IT.. DELETE IT IMMEDIATELY...................................... No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
