Hi all - I am about to get fitted for AFO's ( my first pair) and was

wondering what shoes are available(for orthotics). I know finding

" fashionable " shoes will be difficult, but was hoping for ideas. I know that

tennis shoes won't be a problem, but I need shoes for work (business casual)

Thanks!

Me too, I used to roller skate and was quite good, took 2 semesters

in college even!! The last time I skated I was pregnant and not very

balanced, I also felt a lot of weakness in my thighs. I'm not sure

if that was CMT, pregnancy or advanced age(32)LOL. Most of my CMT

manifestations are in my hands and diaphragm, I imagine that with the

same loss of strength in my feet/ankles that I would not be able to

skate.

I find Rockports are usually pretty good, they have a removeable inner sole.

I find I need a wide opening (to get my foot in), and a high rear (so the

AFO doesn't pull out).

Hi :

I also wear Rockports - the Pro for women. They are a lace-

up walking shoe and come in black, taupe/cream, and white. I wore

the black ones with dress slacks for years while I was working.

I mail order mine from eshoesale.com for $59 a pair. (I will say

that the first time I ordered, they sent me men's shoes! So now I

speak to a rep and specify 'womens'.)
