I absolutely understand the nervous, I had my cervical fusion in March 2002. As I remember I took myself and a change of clothes because I was only there for the day of the surgery and the next day, I was released after noon on the third day. Although my daughter knowing I was nervous and scared bought me a teddy bear to keep me company and he stayed with me too. Hasn't the doctor or his nurse told you how long you will need to be in the hospital? I got very lucky, my doc had a GREAT nurse and knew how nervous people got, she called me at home twice before the surgery to see if I was 'okay' and if I had any questions.
