Guest guest
One more thing...I noticed the new possible DX of ADHD. My daughter, age 8 & finishing 3rd grade has 'true' ADHD and is medicated for it. I always suspected she was ADHD and finally in first grade we got the dx...in second grade medication was needed to allow her to continue to learn. also displayed ADHD like behaviors when he was younger...lucky us...lol. But in my research on ADHD I found that other issues often cause a misdiagnosis of ADHD. Unresolved pain and sensory issues were the reason for his ADHD like behaviors. We addressed the sensory stuff with OT and the pain with moving to the next levels of medication for the JIA. He no longer displays ADHD like behaviors...for the most part. Sometimes he still gets dysregulated from the sensory stuff...but he is now able to articulate that and is able to reregulate himself in most cases. One other thing...I am currently on vicodin for terrible back pain caused by fibroids pressing on my spine/lower back. I have noticed in myself how easily distracted I am...I am displaying some ADHD behaviors. It is because of the pain...yesterday was a low pain day and my mind was so much clearer. So just a thought on the ADHD...while it could be ADHD...it may not be. A quick test is how does your daughter react to caffiene? Arianna, my daughter, drinks a Diet Pepsi or Diet Mountain Dew to calm down. (must be diet or the sugar can hype her up). We could never do this with however because he won't drink soda (he had/has feeding and oral sensory issues and hates carbonation.) Anyway, just wanted to share our experience with ADHD. and , 6, poly (04/09) plus a bunch of other stuff Sent from my iPhone
