Guest guest
Ronda, This is just my personal experience and what I've learned to do. I don't want to give you my advice because I'm not a homeopath but I love homeopathy and am learning more and more! I've learned that it's best not to give a remedy unless a person is really sick. If it's just a mild cold or just a fever, her body's vital force is already doing what it needs to do. (When I first started using homeopathy, I used to try to find a remedy for EVERYTHING -- then I read in a few books that it's really best not to give remedies unless they're really needed or you can confuse the body's natural ability to move towards health.) So now I use remedies more conservatively and won't use high doses unless I'm really convinced I'm right. My son is 3, almost, and the first time I ever gave him tylenol was last month when he had pneumonia, was breathing 65 respirations per minute, and had a 105 degree fever, that on top of a quick bath. Any other times his fevers seemed to run okay even at 104. Sheri, the moderator on this list just started teaching a fabulously thourough introduciton to homeopathy course 2 days ago. Maybe you could enroll -- there have only been 2 lessons so far. I don't think chewing the pellets ruins the dose. My son has always chewed them except for the few times that I've dropped a few in while he's sleeping. We keep him away from eating or drinking anything 15 minutes before and after, and use mint-free toothpaste. Good luck, Joyce Kehoe PA Fever question My 21 month old Zayna has a 103 degree fever and this is her first one.....She shows signs of starting to get sick ONLY when she goes without her nursing, and as soon as we resume it, she is better in a matter of hours without any remedies.....But, I was only able to nurse her for about 20 minutes cause she had to leave with hubby cause I AM NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE MY OWN KIDS HERE WITH ME WITHOUT HIM HERE!!! It is raining and blowing its ass off here in FL. and I KNOW it isnt good for her to be out in this aweful weather and even OUT period, and she needs to be HOME with me and with her nursing and her mommy and resting!!! My hubby HAD to leave though and it WAS important cause we are having someone take out our ONLY shrimp boat for the first time since we have had it, and it is stressful letting your $40,000 boat that is your ONLY source of income, to go out with someone ELSE running it and not hubby.....He had to show the guy some things and give him a cell phone to take so we can 2-way talk, etc......Anyway, my baby spiked a fever of 103 and I didnt realize that NOTHING (not even HP) should be given IF there is ONLY a fever and nothing else with it, because it interferes with the body's natural defense system and may confuse it by giving a HP remedy like Belladonna and so forth....Well I knew my baby was leaving and I didnt want hubby freaking out about the fever and jumping to give Motrin to her, so I gave her Ferrum Phos. FIRST, but she grabbed her drink right after and ruined that dose....Then I tried (about 30 min. later) Belladonna and she chewed up the tablets that are supposed to be dissolved under the tongue, so does this ruin the dose as well? She is a baby and cant let those things sit under her tongue, so I have always let her bite them and chew them and the Chamomile has always worked after doing this, so I figured it wouldnt hurt? Please let me know on this somebody? How can I get her to take these remedies without chewing it, IF it will ruin the dose? Well Belladonna didnt work either so now what? I am not gonna give her anything unless her fever goes above 103, or is accompanied by other symptoms, so should I just keep sponging her down (and cover up each limb after sponging it) and wait it out? According to my HP book " THE COMPLETE HOMEOPATHY HANDBOOK " it says that Aconite Nap may be the right one to try cause her symptoms are very similiar to the FEVER part of this remedy, so is it ok to give this remedy after her already having the other two earlier? How frequent can I give this and how long does HP remedies take to start working? What if her fever stays at 102-103 and never comes down and she is miserable and wont eat or sleep well tonight, considering ME not being allowed to be with her at night either, and she will be at ANOTHER house to sleep tonight, but will at least be with her daddy? I dont want him giving her freakin Tylenol or Motrin and freaking out about a fever....He did earlier and it was ONLY because HE was gonna have her with HIM and he was scared.....I am not stupid and I know how men are....WE are the ones who normally take care of the babies when they are ill, and they dont normally have to deal with it, but now he WILL have to and I need to know what to tell him to do for her.....Any suggestions? I really need to know if her chewing these tablets is ruining the doses and need to know how many different remedies can be used in one day and how much and how long it takes to work....Why isnt Homeopathy working on her for fever? Is it just because she shouldnt be getting any HP remedies for JUST a fever like my book says and it may only work on her IF there are other symptoms, or is it I just havent found the RIGHT remedy that works for HER? Hubby is freaking and thinks HP doesnt work and I want to prove him wrong and that it may be because she isnt getting the right remedy or maybe because she shouldnt be getting ANY remedy for only a fever....Thanks Ronda from FL
Guest guest
fever question Our (3) had her regular fever the last week of Septembeer, we gave her Prednisilone and the fever went away. This was only the 2nd time she has taken it but it seemed to work well both times. Now one week later she is fevering again. I'm not sure what to do. Should I give the prednisilone again or let the fever run it course this time. She's responding well to Motrin but without the prednisilone I know she'll probably fever for a week. But I'm not sure if I should give it to her again so soon after giving it last week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, 's mom
Guest guest
, This is common to see when you give Prednisone with PFS. You need to discuss giving the Prednisone again with your doctor. Many children will have to stop Prednisone because the fevers come closer and closer with the medication HOWEVER, sometimes this frequency somehow regulates... and after a few episodes of coming closer and closer they do go back. If this is the case it will usually work itself out by the 4th or 4th fever event. If it is not and they continue to come closer than most people weigh the benefits and risks of the medication and may end up stopping due to the side effects of the steroid. Call your doctor. Guest guest
Hi! My daughter's fevers vary from 2-4 weeks apart. As for the blood testing, I'm not sure on that.
Guest guest
HI , I would say my son Kane is not cyclical with his fevers. At a time he was getting them every two weeks when he first was put on the steroid . Now after a few months of it he is now had a break of about three weeks and now he should of had one again this weekend but has not. So they are never to the " T " . He also does not get the mouth sores everyone talks about . Does everyone get these ? He's not had a genetic test. Had many blood and urine cultures and doctor said they came out normal. So we are not positive he has but reading all these emails sure sounds like it .

Guest guest
, Our son's fever cycle was generally every 2 weeks (which was not on the day every time - but usually 13-15 days). There were occasions where he would 'skip' a fever and instead have it a week later (and usually that episode would be more severe) and even a few times where he fevered 'on schedule' and then fevered again a week later. Having said that, our son fevered for almost 2.5 yrs and had over 70 episodes because his cycle was so short. During all of that he probably had 10-13 episodes that were a little irregular, which percentage wise is not much. Other factors can sometimes affect a child's cycle. Emotional stress can sometimes bring a fever on earlier. I did notice that if he was due for immunizations within a day or so of a fever also being due that sometimes (rare but it happened) the fever would become delayed by a week or the full 2 weeks. I don't know if that was because his body was already fighting to build antibodies from the immunization and was too busy for the fever or what, there are SO many unanswered questions with this condition. As far as illnesses, he never had a 'regular' illness except one minor congestion virus, and one stomach flu (that was a very strong flu and he only had it for 2 days where everyone else had it for almost a week) during the time he fevered (never needed antibiotics for anything and was never sick). Regarding the Cyclic Neutropenia - Tyler's blood work came back negative so they ruled it out at that point. Best Wishes to you and your daughter. Guest guest
Hey everyone: Hannah is home sick again. Running 100-103+ fever. Had her in this morning and apparently her last sinus infection never cleared up, plus she now has strep too. My question is: for those of you who have kids like Hannah who can't take NSAIDs (only Tylenol) is there anything that helps bring down the fever? She's keeping hydrated and I've been doing cool compresses. She's not interested in taking the cool baths since she is going between sweating & being cold. Sick of her being sick... Guest guest
Thanks e. I was very worried because she went up to 103.4 this afternoon. I had been doing the fluids and cool compresses for her and it still was going up, even after given Tylenol. I spoke with ped's office at 5:00 and if it goes over 104 we are to go the ER. She is sleeping on my lap right now and feels pretty cool. Thanks for the advice. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs! But don't be too worried about the fever being up. Fever it the bodies way of fighting an illness. If it isn't over 102 our ped says leave it be and let the bodies natural protections do their job Just at thought---cool compresses can help if she is really uncomfortable, fluids and taking the antibiotics which will fight the infection. These bugs are getting harder to kill. I am sick sick sick again and did this same thing in June and again in December. Ugh! Guest guest
Something we do in the hospital is strip our febrile pts down, using only a sheet for cover, if that. It looks funny, esp if the room is cool, which it should be, and if it's winter! It's natural to want to cover a shivering person, but that is how the body cools itself. It's best to wear minimal clothing until the fever breaks. Guest guest
Hi Beth and Hannah, We are so sorry to hear that you are sick! Darn those fever's! Maggie loves to have a fan blowing on her when she is running a temp, not sure how good that is for her.......but it does seem to help a little. I am hoping by the time I send off this email you are tucked into bed and your fever is down Hannah! We will be praying hard that by tomorrow morning you feel at least a little bit better. Guest guest
You can always do the cool baths, or the remove most clothing and put a cool sheet over her. Hope she gets feeling better soon. And thanks---I'm hoping these antibiotics are the one that work. So so tired of this---it just hangs on for so long. Hannah though has been through way too much so lets hope that she gets feeling better really quick. e From: Beth Yohnk <yohnkmom@sbcglobal . net> Subject: fever question @group s.com Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2009, 1:10 PM Hey everyone: Hannah is home sick again.
