Guest guest
Greetings from the hospital bedside. Well, it seems my son has become one of the few who develop hotchkins lymphoma from taking methotrexate. After only three weeks of doses, his lymph system is in utter chaos. He's been under more tests than a " House " episode in the last 48 hours, and we are awaiting the final results from a boatload of tests to develop a chemo treatment plan sometime Monday or Tuesday. They are putting a pic-line (sp?) in Monday. We're overwhelmed but also awed by the caliber of doctors who are coming to his rescue here. Internationally renowned experts. Still, this is not the field I would have chosen for my son to distinguish himself . I finally gave in and asked for sedatives yesterday after not sleeping for three days, and slept 10 hours last night. Definitely one of those " put on your own oxygen mask before helping your children " kinds of decisions. If any of you out there have been through this " quasi-rare " complication, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks for the many messages of support, it has meant alot. Compassionate new friends sprung from total strangers...how cool is that? Best use ever of the internet, I think. Allie
