This has been the oddest flare up for Christiaan. She had been doing so well

that we decided to forego the STL rheumy, because my mother's grandkids got sick

AGAIN when we needed to come. She also came down with it, and having a 6 wk old

at the time, I didn't think it was a great idea. Thankfully, we didn't go,

because the foster sister I was suppose to visit there, went ahead on over.

Well, her 17mo old started with a fever as they were leaving, and ended up

hospitalized for RSV for a few days. Had my son and newborn gotten that, we may

have had 3 kids in the hospital at the same time. My other asthmatic gets really

bad too. That baby has asthma, and has been in as much as mine that has the

heart defect. Anywho....I am sooo glad we decided to not go.

But, my plan was to get my DH and DD into an adult rheumy here closer to home so

I can get babysitting a little easier. Only my mother is able to care for the

children, and both times the other kids have been really ill, and the other appt

made was when I went in for the emergency csection. So, I just don't think it is

in the cards for us to go to the STL rheumy. When my DD and Dh go together,

perhaps they can put the familial relationship together and finally figure out

what is wrong with her. The last xrays were fine as well, even though she was in

so much pain.

Well, this last week, she has been hurting on and off. Not too badly though. She

has been having difficulty walking because the compensatory leg has been

collapsing on her. The one knee hurts, and the other one won't support her

weight without doing that " trick " thing that happens when someone hits you on

the back of the knee. I would have taken her into the doctor, but my van is

broke down and this doesn't seem severe enough to ask my DH to take work off

(AGAIN) for a child's medical issue. I already took him the 2.5 hr commute twice

to have the car on the bi-yearly pulmo appt that my son had to go to. I think I

will go ahead and make her an appt on Wed when DH is off, so I can see what the

dr thinks of it. It is irritating to her, but she seems to be able to do what

she needs to otherwise.

The breathing episodes she had been having have gone to almost none at all. She

has had 2, and that was on Sunday night (again), and before the one overnight DH

has which would leave us without a vehicle for 2 days. Whereas, he comes home at

dinner and we could use the car then if we need milk or anything like that. I am

thinking that the breathing thing really is stress induced, but she still

insists this is not the case. I have given her one hour a day where she is

totally alone and cannot be asked to do anything but her own thing. She can do

whatever she wants, and it is her " me time " . So, I really don't think the joint

pain is stress, as they have tried to say it is. During this time that she has

this daily me time, the breathing episodes have nearly disappeared, until lately

when we went down to one vehicle. But, her flare ups have been worse lately. The

flare started with a cold virus, that we got from our visitation with family.

Has anyone else dealt with the " trick knee " thing? I know it happens on occasion

to ppl with arthritis, like it does with DH, but not every other step with the

entire flare up for him. He walks through his, although with a limp, he doesn't

have this type of thing. Kymberli
