Ziv has tummy aches and headaches exactly like you described. They also

come and go, without logic. My advise to her is to lie on her left side

with her knees up at her chest, breath slowly, in through her nose and out

of her mouth. In her mind she is supposed to think of something that she

likes, or a favorite place to go, or what ever makes her feel good inside.

Obviously to you and me she's meditating or doing relaxation exercises,

but to her, she's making her tummy aches go away. I also encourage extra

water in the hotter weather. If Ziv starts having tummy aches at school,

I will tell her to go somewhere quiet, and still do the breathing and

imagination game. I will go to great lengths not to take them out of school

- that's the only time I have to myself!!!!!

A few weeks ago, her tummy aches and headaches were becoming accessive.

I clearly associated them with anxiety, even if she couldnt articulate it.

The doc and I agreed to raise her zoloft from 100mg to 150mg. Within 3 days,

she had no more aches.

On another note - We moved Ziv to the top part of a bunk bed and put her

dresser under the bed. Her room looks bigger, which is good b/c its quite

small, and I removed another 2 green garbage bags of junk (that's 4) - and

I'm not finished! I have left her to clear off the desk and vanity tops, but

I am sceptical that it will be done. She doesnt seem to comprehend how to

tidy - just shift! I broke it down to tiny tasks, but she couldnt do it. She

ended up sitting and keeping me company while I sorted through her things.

That always amazes me, I can throw someone elses things out, but my hoarders

can't through their own things out!

Anyway I think that your instinct is right and it is anxiety.

Kelsey may not realize why she feels the way she does. ziv is 10 and couldnt

articulate it clearly.

Good luck, and meditation may be the best answer before increasing the

anti-depressants.

Hi

Give Kelsey a few days and see if anything physical comes up (virus, infection,

etc.) andra says, " I feel bad, " and complains of aches off and on. We

have coached her to boss it back just like other OCD issues. I truly believe

that she does feel bad on these occasions but usually anxiety is the root

cause.

We got tripped up recently though: after a week of coaching her to boss back,

saying it's just OCD, etc., she developed a fever, followed by an ear infection

and strep throat. (She was complaining of headaches and stomach aches the

whole week before.) So her body knew she was sick before we did!

I like 's breathing idea, too, and will try that with andra.

Take care,

Lesli (S.F. Bay)

I'm sorry to post this since I don't have a PID (as far as I know) and I'm

not a child, but I'm having no luck in online research.

I've been having increasing troubles in the last year with stomach cramps and

diarrhea and nausea, seemingly after eating fatty foods and chocolate, but

not every time and not the same food every time. I was thinking gallbladder but

no other symptoms. Now I've had gastro viruses, I guess, twice within three

weeks but nobody else in my family gets it, including , who is normally the

gastro virus queen, catches them all.

Last time it was heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, high fever, muscle

aches, fatigue bordering on unconsciousness (!) this time it's nausea, diarrhea,

low grade fever, some joint aches, fatigue. Any ideas? Sorry again, but this

group has seen it ALL!!!

I'm a little ticked, tomorrow's 's birthday and I need to be preparing

for that, not languishing in bed.

Thanks --

(mom to , age 6-1/2, dairy intolerant-related GERD -- currently

has polysaccharide antibody def, previously had transient IgG, IgA, t-cell &

other defs... and also to Kate, age 3!, more dairy intolerant but very healthy!)

Okay okay....HEre we go....Have YOU seen a doctor.....Gallbladder

symptoms can be vague and not consistent...the fever doesn't seem

consistent with gallbladder symptoms...

Are you just plain wore out.....I think we go and go and go and then

catch a little bug and it knocks us silly since we finally give in

to something...

Maybe go get a physical and see what your PCP has to say....Know

there's an idea....a MOM take care of herself...

Sending get well wishes your way.

I've been through a lot of tests for stomach issues. The fevers don't fit in

with the other symptoms for anything I am familiar with, but you said you've had

the digestive issues for the past year. Your stomach issues sound a lot like

mine used to be, and I was diagnosed with both Acid Reflux Disease and Irritable

Bowel Syndrome. I had to get an endoscopy and a colonoscopy (as well as many

gallbladder tests that were always negative). It took me over a year for the

Gastroenterologist to come to any specific conclusions. Nexium is now my best

friend.

I would definitely make an appointment with a Gastroenterologist. Good luck!

Forgot to mention - talk with your doc about taking aspirin as it can

easily upset your stomache in a bad way esp. with Lexapro and there

even is a warning about it in, guess what? LOL the insert...also

caffeine can do it as well. Something about antihistamines are

contraindicated as too...

Shea,

Sometimes we just get diarrhea. It could be lots of things. The medicine that is

always recommended in the doctor's office where I work is Immodiun AD. We have

our patients start with that, and if that doesn't control it there's a

prescription medicine called lomotil that works really well.

Hope that helps,
