Guest guest
I'm so sorry about what they are doing to you. I wish I knew more about private schools and the way they work. I can't see them doing this to you since you are keeping up with your grades. I hope this problem will work out. Cheli 504 violation?????????????? what to do!!!!!???!!?!??!? My grandparents went to my school because the principal had requested a meeting and what happened was they told me that I don’t have to do any more make-up work but I cannot come back to the school next year because they can’t meet my medical needs Isn’t this illegal? Why would they have the guts to do this when they sat down and wrote a 504 with us?! Please tell me what you think I am heartbroken I have been at this school since I was in kindergarden and now I cant come??? This has to be against the law and if it is not than this is just not right. thanks  Shea Reasoner

Guest guest
I don't know the legallity of what they are doing, but it is definately WRONG! You have a whole group of angry on-line moms behind you and it sounds like your Grandparents aren't going to stand by and let you be mistreated like this. I like 's (I think it was ) idea to let the press know what's going on - might want to have another meeting to discuss first, but if they continue their stance and you still want to attend, let your local newspaper and other families know! Go, Shea, GO! Kirsten, mom to 6 spondy > > Thanks for your support! >  Shea Reasoner > > > > > ________________________________ > From: " hlhsinfo@... Guest guest
Try contacting your local news station too.  Usually they promote on your side stuff to get things resolved, which could also embarrass the school. Guest guest
I'm going to go out on a limb here and play devil's advocate. If you want to fight this, by all means do, but think first if you have the emotional resources to do so and not jeopardize your health. We have a slightly similar issue and my doc wisely said: is this where you really want to be putting your energies right now? We decided to give the insurance company an opportunity t cooperate before we turned to the legal measures, and I'm glad we did. I'm not by any means saying don't fight. I'm just saying think first. Try to have a second, calmer meeting with the school and find out what the real hurdles are--ask for the specific accommodations they don't think they can provide. You may discover a middle ground neither party thinks is there. We met with our son's principal and talked in advance about which teachers would best be able to handle his high amount of absences. Some teachers--like you've experienced-- aren't suited to this. I'd strongly advise having a second, calmer conversation before you call the media. No one wins when backed up against a wall, so try to talk first if you think you can do it. On a purely practical level, your case with the media will be much stronger if you go to them after you've attempted to have a reasonable conversation with the school. And it wouldn't hurt to casually drop that you've had many friends offer to take your case to the media. We, for example, casually mentioned that we had a high powered attorney in the family who was chomping at the bit to defend his relative " but we are hoping it doesn't come to that. " Hope this helps. You're wounded, and you have every right to be hurt, but don't let that allow you to lash out in a way that won't lead to a solution. --Allie, who's picked a few fights of her own, believe me
