Guest guest
Garrett (age 9) has always pulled his own teeth because he won't let anyone else do it. He does get real cranky for a few days before hand and complains that his tooth hurts, which it probably does! Biggest issues at our house is him wanting to pull a tooth every time his older (2 years older) brother does. He also has issues with the tooth fairy. She can't take his teeth. Fortunately, she dropped the first one by the door and we found it when he melted down. Guest guest
Since we had the discussion on hematuria and jra, it got me to thinking about another question I had about Lucy. She just turned 7 and she just now lost her first baby tooth. Her three older siblings had lost 6-8 teeth by the age of 7. Her baby tooth took forever to come out and the adult teeth were crowding in. We eventually had to yank it out with pliers. (Good thing she's tough already.) Anyway, I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? It just seems as if Lucy's body is different in more ways than just jra. Guest guest
Hi Amy, My son also was a little bit late to lose some of his teeth too, now that I think of it. We didn't need to resort to the pliers though : ) But ... he is my first-born, so I wasn't able to compare to older siblings like you were. He was just a bit later than some of his friends. I wasn't able to find anything in the literature about this. Just the one study which actually said dental maturity was advanced in those with JRA ... ? Did find some interesting TMJ related articles though. Good observation, though. Guest guest
Geogina, Thanks for all of the interesting articles. I guess I would just conclude that jra does affect the body in more ways than one. Or that there are other immune disorders going on that haven't been identified. I just know that her body and development has been different than her siblings. Thanks again. Guest guest
We have the exact opposit problem from you. Audrey lost her first tooth one month after she turned 5, on her brother's b-day. She has now lost 3, and a 4th is getting ready to come out. She had her first teeth in at 4 months. She already has her 7 and 8 year old molars in. Her dentist says she is very advanced. D. Guest guest
was late losing teeth compared to his peers. He still has many of his baby teeth at age 11 & will soon have a trip to the dentist to remove some that are still there with the adult teeth just now beginning to push forward. I have thought that it is related to his overall growth delay. Guest guest
Hello everyone, I was just reading this and had to pipe in. My daughter was very late to lose her teeth. Matter of fact we ended up having 6 or 7 of her baby teeth pulled out by the dentist cuz they were just hanging on for dear life. We needed to do this in order to get her braces on. She had horribly crooked teeth. Then we ended up having to take her braces off early due to her gums being so inflammed and a lot of plaque build up. Thought this was interesting after reading your posts and all of the articles Georgina posted. Thanks for letting me pipe in. Take care, > > Hi Amy, > > My son also was a little bit late to lose some of his teeth too, now that I think of it. Guest guest
I actually printed off all the stuff on dental stuff and faxed it to the dentist yesterday. He has already told me that she is way advanced, and that all bets are off for any of her dental development. She's never been on any type of steroid - just naproxen, mtx, enbrel, folic acid and remicade.
