Guest guest
I will pray for your daughter and grandbaby. That is so heart breaking. We are also having an U/S next month to check this baby's heart since we have already had a child with a heart defect. My son's wouldn't have been noticed on an U/S, and didn't need correcting immediately, but we want to be sure that this baby doesn't have something worse than he has. I would do one thing for sure, is pray they are WRONG. Drs are wrong all the time, especially when trying to take a peek inside. This is what I am praying for. The other thing is to, that they redo the tests quickly after the baby is born. Normally, they don't do heart surgery on babies until they are 2 mos old. That is pretty rare, and can cause more harm than good. Have them confirm the diagnosis, unless it is apparent at birth that things aren't good. But, if the baby has a good color and is breathing well, there is time, and they usually wait 2 mos. If she gets to take the baby home, I would make sure that the testing is redone often to evaluate her heart. Many things can repair themselves (like a hole in the heart and that kind of thing). If the baby is declining at any of those tests, INSIST that they do something about it. I have a friend that had bad results because they said babies can't have heart surgery until they are 2 mos old. And, the tests were showing decline. If they are telling you that they can do something at birth, I would want to wait if you can, but if there isn't time, then get it done. I pray that it all works out and the baby is fine, or if she/he does have a CHD that it can be corrected easily enough. At least you have some time to do some online research.
