Guest guest
has been flaring terribly over the past few weeks, he is back to walking like an 80 year old man. Our rheumy just maxed out his methotrexate to 25mg and instead of giving it to him in pill form, we have to start 1.0 injections. He wasn't having too many side effects from the methotrexate before. I was wondering if you could tell me what to expect now. Will he be sick on Saturday? Is 25mg a lot to jump to so quickly? When the nurse called to up his dosage she also mentioned that his kidneys are working too hard and that we really have to monitor his fluid intake and make sure he's drinking enough water from now on. Has anyone else gone through that? I thought he was drinking enough. This is still so new to me and I'm back to being worried sick! , 12, poly

Guest guest
, How much did he jump from? Jaye went from 15 to 20 and then three months later they bumped it up from 20 to 25. the only thing I noticed was that she was a bit more tired on Saturday so she slept later. That is why we choose to give it on Friday, she has total control of whether she wants to participate in things on a Saturday. She usually did all the things she wanted unless she was sick from something else. Jaye said the methotrexate injections did not hurt. Probably a pinch when poked in but she would just keep watching tv or whatever. It has not been enough though for her and so we start enbrel tomorrow. I hope the mtx works now that you are going to an injection for him. I would think that since he has been on it already that it should not take long to see results if it is going to work. Guest guest
Hi Veri, I hope it works too! They bumped him from 10 to 25, which seems like a big jump all at once. I hope Jaye feels better once she starts the Enbrel! I'm so glad to hear that your co-pay is not too high, that is such great news! I'm praying that both and Jaye get great results with these new changes and are able to feel good for Christmas. Thank you so much! & 12 poly From: veristroud@... Guest guest
I think she will do pretty well for Christmas. Since she is out of school after the 21st then she will have nearly two weeks to sleep late adn that always helps her for when she is up and around. But even though she was able to sleep in late last weekend she was not well Saturday or Sunday and then Monday she was up and in the car to head toKC by 6:15 a.m. and so it was not a good day. She slept all the way there but ya know how difficult it is to get comfortable in a car. And she is not small where she can curl up in the seat very well. Tuesday was horrible for her after our trip to KC and Yesterday was a little bit better but she is still walking odd and obviously in pain. I am so excited abou the possibilities of Enbrel helping her out so much. Veri & Jaye 16 poly RE: Methotrexate question.. i Veri, hope it works too! Guest guest
When we switched to the injected methotrexate she experienced way less stomach pain. She is still tired from it on Saturdays/Sundays, about the same as she was when on the oral. She is also at the max dose - 25mg/1ml. I hope you see an improvement in the arthritis when switching to the injected - we definitely did. nn (, 9, systemic) > > > has been flaring terribly over the past few weeks, he is back to > walking like an 80 year old man.
