Talk to me.... (Uveitis dx today)

Well, our quiet time has come to an end. We are still in almost 14 months

of no active arthritis in any joints but Zoe got hit with a Uveitis

diagnosis today in her right eye. The doc's statement was " very minor

inflammation " and we are starting with 1 drop of Pred Forte 4 times a day

and are to go back to see him in two weeks. The left eye is starting to

look suspicious, so we will keep a close eye on it. Tomorrow I get to go

into school and review with them doing her drop at lunch time. I work lunch

tomorrow, so it should be okay. Zoe seems to be okay with it at the moment.

She was almost bragging about it to our neighbors after we got home. I am

not sure how she will be once she has to start the drops.

What stinks is that we did the Arthritis walk on Sunday and it felt good to

share with the few people we spoke to that things had been quiet for a year.

I know she meets most of the " risk factors " for getting Uveitis but I was

still hoping we wouldn't head down this path. I have said many cuss words

in my head this evening and had a beer.

So, tell me..is this a precursor to it returning full force. Should I keep a

more vigilant " eye " on her as school wraps up in the next couple of weeks

and we head into summer fun & camps? Doc says there are no side effects of

the drops that will be visible to her initially and that they do not sting.

Is this so? I know he will watch her pressure and we will keep track of the

length of time she in on them, but what else?

This is strike number three in a month's time, so hopefully it will all

settle down now. (her twin was dx ADHD in mid April and was also told that

she will probably need another strabismus eye muscle surgery in the next

year.)
