Guest guest
I talked to her about trying the T3 thyroid med instead of the T4 I've always gotten that just doesn't seem to do that much for me. She says all my tests are in the middle of the normal range with it, end of story....grrrrrrrrrrrr. Told her I know people who are doing much better on the T3 but she didnt care [Patti Skari:] I take Armour, which has both T3 & T4 in it. I simply can't imagine going without it. Twice idiot docs talked me into going off Armour (they HATE armour) and put me on thyroid, and I got LOTS worse. I looked long and hard to find a doc to prescribe Armour again. The T3 makes a HUGE difference for me!!! If you decide to take matters into your own hands you can order your own Armour (legally - if you live in the US) from smart-drug places in europe (like www.antiaging-systems.com). I don't know if you can buy plain T3 Patti --
Guest guest
Hello Everyone- I just wanted to send a quick update. After the ER visit of last week, I was told to follow up without fail to my PCP and i wasn't going to at first due to is usual lameness but changed my mind given chest symptoms. I went yesterday and had a repeat EKG and this time he wrote down the issue that keeps showing up. It's called Q-T interval prolongation.... It might be associated with a medication that I take to help me with sleep even though its a very very rare side effect associated with way higher doses of drugs related to this one but it still could be the cause. It's not directly associated but distantly... (figures!) My PCP is not sure about the pericarditis either but says i should stay on the ibuprofen for now until i see the cardiologist for further investigation. They took yet more blood to check my calcium, metabolic and something else because apparently something involving the ion channels and calcium has to be ruled out as the cause of Q-T interval prolongation as well. I'm still getting some chest pain episodes at times but the iburprofen is helping quite a bit. Honestly, I'm more emotionally upset about this latest health curve ball than anything else. I feel quite broken. Thanks for your concern. Issadora -- " How exactly does one become a butterfly? You must want to fly so badly that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar. Guest guest
Izzie: Hang in there. Heart stuff is quite scary (went through a boatload of tests myself last year). I think at least is sounds like they are working on figuring it out for you which I think is an improvement When do you see the cardiologist or is the insurance still dragging their feet? Guest guest
I'm sending hugs and prayers for you, Issadora. It is scary and I hope you can find out the cause very soon. Guest guest
Hi Issadora, Once again I am sorry for all of the issues that you are having with your heart right now. I seriously wonder exactly what has to happen before anyone see's a " Red Flag " with all of the symptoms that you are having and the irregular tests. As of right now Maggie has OK health insurance and we seem to be able to get her appointments in a fair amount of time, I do wonder however when she turns 18 or her health insurance through my husbands employer runs out (which is sure to happen long before then), just how much things will change for her. The state of Iowa seems to do alright by their children, but our sick adults and elderly lack the same quality of care. That scares me terribly as her meds alone are over 37,000 a month mostly because of IVIg, but the bill for the rest is horrible too. Thank God we only have to pay 20%, even now we remain broke! At least she has what she needs, that is the most important part. When they diagnosed Maggie with Pericarditis they used an Echo Cardiogram. It too was fast, just an ultra sound that took less than 30 minutes, I cannot understand why they did a repeat EKG and did not try the other instead. We will be praying hard that they find some answers for you very soon. Whatever it is, the NOT knowing is so much worse than the KNOWING sometimes!! In the mean time, rest up and take good care of yourself. We are thinking of you! Guest guest
ThanksFOr your message Diane I sure hope that given Maggies serious health issues that she would have help. Im sure if she was able to get SSI, she would have coverage with medi-caid that would handle her. I don't know if she gets that already or not. Thanks for your message.
