Guest guest
Hi all, I was wondering if 2 shots a week of enbrel is better that one painful shot of humira. is now 2 and we are having such a hard time controlling her poly-JRA. She just started walking this past week. She is flaring really bad, and has been hesitant to walk the past three days. We keep loosing ground, every time she makes progress physically...UGH! She is now taking 5 pills of methotrexate a week, and two doses of naproxen daily. This still isn't doing the trick. I was told we had to start injections in a few weeks. I am so nervous! I hate needles...I truely have fear of them...pass out...whole 9 yards! I'm gonna have to suck it up, and I will....just a bit nervouse though . I much rather do 2 shots less pain that even one that hurts. I can't see her suffer anymore. She hasn't had a pain free day her whole life, and I am struggling with this so much. Any sugestions? Guest guest
Lani, I am sorry to hear that your daughter is in so much pain. I have never used Humira, but we are currently on the Enbrel shots. My daughter (9) has taken the shots abotu 6-7 months now, and it has done WONDERS for her. She was taking 6 mtx pills also. We went to the rheumy the other day, and she said that there was very little inflamation, that she wants to start taking her off the meds!!! She is starting by reducing her mtx slowly till we are fully done in the next 2 months...and she was ready to reduce her Enbrel shots to 1X a week, but I had just refilled my perscription, and she wanted a different dose......so we are still doing 2X a week, till this runs out...then will go 1X a week. I was like you in the very beginning. I hated shots (still do) and was fearful to give them to my daugther. I over came my fears, because I knew that it would help her. I have never thought twice about it......after a few times of practicing on an orange and the doctor showing me how, I was ready to go..... My daughter hates needles herself, and absolutely hates taking the shots, but she knows too, that she has too in order to keep her pain down. i should say that we were on the mtx (7 pills) and 2X a day of Naproxen when we started the Enbrel shots as well.... I hope that you find what works best for your daughter.
