Guest guest
Hi Amy, Since shared, I thought I would too... My daughter threw up from 4 - 9 a.m. nearly every morning of fifth grade. She would wake up gagging and not make it out of bed in time every night, and then we'd sit around with her trying to calm her down for hours. It was purely anxiety over school, but during the day she seemed fine. It was because of that year that we got an IEP for her. She has never been like that since, although she has panic attacks several mornings a week. She now deals with them and doesn't get sick - the panic is all about *whether* she feels bad enough to throw up though. She lies face down on her bed and does deep breathing exercises until it passes now. No doctor could ever explain how to help with this, since there was no time to discuss it before she started vomiting. They could never figure out how to stop her from waking up mid-vomit. We basically waited until that school year ended and it stopped. The good news is that Chris' son got over it, and my daughter got over it too. So we can hope that this phase will pass for you too! in NV
Guest guest
Hi Amy, At one time, used to vomit every Christmas a.m. it seemed, just from the excitement. He'd be so keyed up for days before that, it seemed to catch up with him. And that was " happy " excitement, where'd he be dwelling on some gift (usually video game) he knew/hoped he would get. at one time had some type night terror/sleep issues and began to throw up during those, I guess from anxiety or his body being so keyed/churned up, panic maybe? Those passed luckily as I couldn't get any medical answers that suited me. Gee, guess I just wanted to share the panic/anxiety vomiting with you! Viv's certainly not alone anyway. Glad she's doing OK this a.m., how was she after school??? > Hello all, > > Quick update on Vivian, she had a very anxious night last night getting > prepared to go back to school after her vacation. She actually vomited due > to the level of anxiety she was having...finally went to sleep at about
Guest guest
I will share on this too. (OCD,SAD,GAD) used to vomit every morning before school. She sometimes would wake up gagging & vomiting. She finally outgrew it. Although, she will still vomit occasionally when she has an anxiety attack. My son (so far no OCD diagnosis, just a few tendancies)has never had an anxiety attack, but he will vomit when he gets injured. I am hoping he will out grow it too. The sooner the better. As everyone has said, no doctor has ever been able to explain it. Ramona
Guest guest
Interesting. I've always felt that my son's ocd and anxiety comes from dh, though he gets really angry if I raise the issue, so I don't bother. But here's another link. I remember when we were looking for an apartment - we were moving cities, getting married, starting new jobs all in the course of a few months - and I had to go in and view the apartments on my own while my 'fiance' was throwing up on the sidewalk. He still gets a very upset stomach when he's anxious - though he always blames it on something else. (I will continue to zip my lip but it's interesting, nonetheless!) kim Re: Re: Update on dd I will share on this too. (OCD,SAD,GAD) used to vomit every morning before school. Guest guest
Well, I hadn't been tallking much here, so I thought I would give an update. We will be going to STL for our 2nd opinion in mid November. For now, Christiaan is having a flare up about every 3 weeks, this last one actually caused her to limp again. But, they are only 48 hrs long or less. She has been asking for the Aleve in between times, as the kids will do things that cause her to hurt for a while after, like the 3yo jumping on her back and such like that. Most kids might be like ouch for a minute or so, but it seems to put her in pain for hours. Or she will flare up in between, but not bad enough that there is a lot of physical appearance, but asking for the Aleve. So, overall, things are okay. This hasn't totally disappeared like I had hoped it would, but my DH says he doesn't remember NOT having hip pain flare ups. So, whatever caused his to activate is probably similar to what caused hers. I know that he had been stung 50 times or more by yellow jackets at 11 or so, and I wonder if that is when his hip pains started. Hers were bacterias from the dog bite, his was probably the bee stings or some other " benign " childhood illness. But, he tolerates it well enough, and he has never actually gone to the dr for it. Guest guest
Glad you are getting the second opinion. Treating with a DMARD rather than just Aleve/ibuprofen might be necessary to stop or prevent any joint damage. If you can take care of that when she is younger, she may not have the problems possible as she becomes an adult. Even if she is not in an active flare at the time of the appt, the rheumy can many times still feel inflammation in the joints that is not obvious just by looking. Plus he/she will ask about when she seems to have the most pain and stiffness. Are things settling down for you all with the flu and colds and your son's breathing issues? Guest guest
I missed the original post to this response...but I applaud everything you said here. It needs to be said ALOT - to remind us (me) why we're going thru all this crapola. ~osh Update on DD Well, I hadn't been tallking much here, so I thought I would give an update. Guest guest
Last night, DD said her right knee seemed a little inflammed. But, the last time, we went to the rheumy during a bad flare after the few times we have thought there was swelling in her knee (it was the night before the appt actually), and he didn't find anything. So, I guess although I am going through the motions, I have about given up on any diagnosis or real answers, or treatment. Someone else had mentioned that if it came back, we should have her retested for the RMSF (Rocky Mountain Fever) because sometimes a tiny bacteria is still there, and more ABx is still needed. So, I wonder if this would be where we need to go with the dr on Monday. Well, my oldest son seems to have the flu. We haven't really had the flu hit until now. The virus that they got was just a run of the mill cold, and only a few of the children got it, even though it involved a lot of coughing. My 7yo is doing much better, but we have figured out that cold (besides just viruses) causes her to need the Albuterol. So, I think it is best to say that she can't play out in the cold. The baby has been doing pretty good. He is really good about his breathing treatments, which is actually just steroid, not bronchodilators which are not good for him. The med supply store brought his emergency oxygen that the dr ordered for home. So, if he does get the flu that my oldest has, we have our emergency plans for him. We just have to get his secondary insurance renewed near his bday, which is mid winter. I am hopeful that we can get that approved though. Thanks for asking.
