Anyone know why my messages don't get a " from ... " and my email address

above my message? Just curious :-) Probably cuz I'm on webtv and not a

computer. Any other webtvers out there notice this?

Never been married. Been engaged twice and yes with " average " size

individuals. No, never been in a relationship with an LP. I don't know any

that are around my area to be honest.

Hi Kate,

I have been married to average size guy for 23 years. I did have a

couple dates with other average size guys just before I started going

with my husband. I went to a couple conventions but never seemed to

hook up with an LP to date (I have never been asked out by an LP, I

was asked out by average size guys). Of course I found the

" competition " tough at convention and I wasn't one to really chase a

guy. There were a lot more women to men in the ratio and there were

some real beauties available to boot!

Honestly, I don't think I have a real preference as my mom was

average size and my dad was an LP. Be it average size or LP, I was

exposed to both. The fates didn't bring an LP man into my life (of

course I feel I wasn't mature enough for a serious relationship until

I was 20) but in my mind the big guy upstairs had his hand in my life

and love is love.... average or LP. What is meant to be will be. My

destiny happens to be with an average size man. And I do have to say

he is a real treasure.

I had that same issue happen once, while I was at work. I worked at a food

court at the University that is near me. We had different highschools in that

week for competitions held at the University. There was an LP that was about

17, or so, that was with one of the schools. All my co workers kept

encouraging me to go talk to him and calling him my future husband. Although,

none of them knew I wasn't interested in dating guys.. I later blew up at em,

because they wouldn't leave me alone about it.. Needless to say nothing was

ever mentioned about my love life after that.

I REALLY know how to make friends!! :P

Hello Kate!

I have been involved with both types. I have OI (brittle bones), am

short, and use a wheelchair. I found it hard through life to meet

guys when I was younger due to I was disabled and the fact that I was

extrememly shy and self confident. I dated mostly other disableds

because they were ones that would approach me. And the few AB's AP's

(abled bodied, average hieght person) that had any interested, were

not my type at all.

Size was not much of an issue for me growing up, I just wanted

someone that we had interests in common, who made me laugh and was

very affectionate and smart, but I was always curious to see what it

would be like to be with someone who has the same type of dwarfism as

myself, some one to relate to and had had some of the same

experiences I had, but never really met any one that had OI that I

liked in that way.

Well after dating for a while I met Kurt online. He had OI and we

were VERY similar in the way we looked at life, our theories, our

interests it was freaky! We became very good friends and fell in

love, i moved to California to be with him (from miami) and have been

extremely happy since, we have a connection that I never thought

possible. He is my soul mate, my twin, my best friend.

I am not saying here that because 2 ppl have the same disability,

size or whatever that they should be together, it was just so that

Kurt had all the qualities I wanted my whole life in a man; funny,

warm, affectionat, smart, motivated, fun, driven, sexy, a musician,

has long hair (mm mmm) and he happened to be my size too! It's kinda

neat beacuse I can put my arms all away around him when we hug.

So I guess my point here, is that it doesnt make the size of a person

a better partner( i sound like Dr Ruth lol), but its nice to have

some one thats been in your boat and knows what its like to be in

your shoes, but not to base a whole relationship on.

Hope that helped ya!

Yes, I have been in a couple of LP relationships...very brief ones...but your

post brought up an issue that I had to nip in the bud this week.

The landlord has an LP guy on his painter crew and a few of the painters thought

it would be " cute " if we got together.

Nothing drives me up the wall more than the " looks like a match therefore they

should be together " attitude.

Curious question

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if any of you are married or are in

relationships with " average " sized individuals. If so,

have you ever been in a relationship with an LP as

well?

Thanks!

Kate

Hi all -

I’m new to this list, 31 years young next week and living in my beautiful

hometown of San Francisco. I have never dated an LP – in fact, I never

actually met any until about a year and a half ago! I’m currently in a

relationship with an average-sized guy (he’s 5’9” and I’m 4’9”).

I can relate to what the others said about the presumed “fix-up” or

association with other LPs. Just the other day, an LP client came into our

office to meet with a colleague of mine and my boss happened to notice him

sitting on the couch waiting. As my boss happened by my office, he said,

“There’s someone waiting for you in the lobby” because he naturally assumed

the guy was there to see me!

If I am dealing with a passing stranger then I will just call it a hearing

aid. Sometimes I will have contact with someone for a longer period of time and

then I will say it's a cochlear implant. If they ask what that is, I tell

them more. If not, then I just leave it. No one would be any less careful with

what they thought was a hearing aid than if they knew what it really was, in

my opinion.

My biggest fear, it does look like a hearing aid but its not, how would you

explain this knowing it is not a hearing aid yet its just easier to say its a

hearing aid and the stranger will just drop it.

I take mine off and show them that it is not a hearing aid. I have the area

shaved where I keep the headpiece because mine tends to fall off real easy.

I usually wear the bwp though. The sound is better and the quality is much much

better for me.

I have a curious question that was asking about...she has times where her

feet (predominately) and hands become so hot they give off heat like a heating

pad...they feel as if they are on fire.  She does not really have more pain than

usual at these times; it is a dry heat, like with a fever, no perspiration.

We are both just curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar to this

with their children?

Thanks for any input.

There is a condition called erythromelalgia. Check out this website

about it:

http://www.erythromelalgia.org/tea/skins/cms/index.php

Apparently it can happen anywhere on the body but starts with the

feet. I learned about it from a psoriatic arthritis group I am in.

Several people there have this condition.

Hope this is helpful

That is very interesting. Thanks for sharing this. Rob's hands, below the wrist,

turn bright red sometimes. But there is no pain, thankfully...it only lasts a

few minutes.

Hi ,

Josh hasn't had that same thing as has, with one or two specific parts of

his body radiating heat. I'd be curious. Does she take her temperature when this

happens? Josh has had so many arthritis-related fevers since his diagnosis that

in the past couple of years he often just doesn't want to be bothered taking his

temperature. Even when he won't, I can often tell by just being close to him

that he's got a fever. The heat radiates from his trunk (chest and back) but

sometimes you can feel the warmth just casually touching his arms or hands. When

he checks it, it's usually never higher than the 103.3 mark. Far better than

when he was little, when we hadn't gained good enough control of the arthritis.

It used to go as high as 106+ on a regular basis.

Cold hands and feet I've heard about being related to specific disorders. Not

the opposite, though. Have you tried Googling it?

Aloha,

Georgina
