Guest guest
Good luck to those of you going into surgery!! It's a tough few weeks afterwards, but worth all the pain and discomfort. I'm now 3 months post-surgery, and my life is almost back to "normal." Charlotte inCT Margaret <zztinau@...> wrote: Good luck,I hope it goes like my first one. Guest guest
> My husband gets his second hip replacement today. Wish us luck! Herb got his his replacement yesterday afternoon. It went well, but as it always is with him, he was in terrific pain and the pain killers weren't working. He was so miserable that he asked me to stay overnight at the hospital with him. I wasn't prepared to stay overnight and home is an hour away, but I stayed. Thank goodness they give you a cot to sleep on! He has to pee many times per night and the nurses never come as fast as he needs them. He also needed to stand up and they wouldn't let him. So with me in the room I could help him whenever he needed it and I supported him when he had to stand up. Today they officially let him stand up, so I was able to come home for some rest. They also had him walking around on crutches. My daughter's high school band concert is tonight, so I need to be there for that. Guest guest
I had the problem of needing to pee all the time. After several days a nurse noticed that my bladder was full and put in a catheter. I guess peeing in a bedpan does not empty the bladder. I suggest you ask the nurse to do the same for your husband. Grace > > > My husband gets his second hip replacement today. Guest guest
We are so glad that your husband is doing good. It will be good to sleep in your own bed tonight. I wish I had got one good nights sleep before my husband came home. I spent the night on a hospital couch the first night. Then he came home the next day. Every time he moved I was awake asking him if he was okay. Think he was ready to feed me some of his drugs to get me to sleep. I was a basket case. Hope the concert went well. Have a good night and send him all of our best wishes. PS: I remember the peeing thing. My husband was aloud to stand with in hours. But his bladder was still frozen until the next day. Talk later. Guest guest
Audrey's surgery went well. I'm glad it's over. Her eyes are very red and irritated, but the doc says it went as well as could be expected. Thank goodness for Lortab, though!
