sindea,

here's just some more proof that the recommendations from these dr.s just

doesn't work!! how many people do you know who subject themselves to the flu

vax each year and get it anyway. try to maybe have your husband adjust his

diet as much as he can--even if it's only during his " flare up " times--to a

more healthy, natural, raw approach. between this and some well researched

herbs maybe it'll be enough for him. my husband has always been in the same

boat as yours. every year we'd go thru that horrible sounded cough and into

bronchitis, followed of course, by stronger and stronger antibiotics. well,

we've now worked on getting ourselves healthier by building stronger immune

systems and thankfully the last 2 years--no bronchitis. i hope it lasts,

because we're done with these powerful antibitoics they kept perscribing.

good luck to you!!

I have had bronchitis a couple of times (but interestingly enough, not

since my partner and I started eating whole, organic foods). I have

found a combination formula of wild cherry and slippery elm bark to work

much more effectively than antibiotics.

Well, his doc wanted to prevent that this year and given him both a flu

and then he still got bronchitis anyway! And

Pneumonia

Vaccine

Hi Listmates,

I thought y'all might be interested to know that in my

home state (Arkansas) they have been running ads on tv

for the pneumonia vaccine. I have seen one (and I

don't watch that much tv). They showed a guy in line

at the grocery store wearing a full haz-mat outfit,

and a voice discussed being safe from infection.

Nothing like a little fear-mongering among the masses.

What a waste of air!

My doc said for folks with chronic conditions like us should get it

every five years. I don't think it'd hurt...

Have you heard only people over 65 will get free flu jabs this

yr? Do you know if there's any truth in it?

How long does the pneumonia shot last?, Are we

to get this every year?

I know the shots last 10 years cause I was told that when I got my shot. They give it to most senior citizens and they told me I would have to have another shot at 64 to maintain the shot.I got it when I was 54.

Thanks Barbara! I will be getting both. Luckily, my doctor is a great

friend of mine and welcomes all of the information we can get on this

NASTY disease. Any advice anyone can give I am so willing to take.

Thanks again. Angelia

I didn't have any choice. My NP gave it to me a couple of years ago when I was first diagnosed, along with flu shot and Bactrim until my CD4's came up.The pneumonia shot she gave me lasts several years. I'm not sure how effective it is (what percentage) but I didn't get pneumonia when my cd4s were really low. Peace,Samguyinsouthala@...guyinsouthala@...

Does the vaccine work against bacterial pneumonia 100%?Nothing in medicine is ever 100%, but the vaccine is excellent protection against pneumonia caused by one bacterial species, Pneumococcus. This bacterium causes a really bad and frequently lethal pneumonia. The vaccine offers no protection against Pnuemocystis pneumonia or streptococcal pneumonia.JB
