Guest guest
Welcome Andre and contratulations on being Member #500 here at . I will try to answer some of your questions, but remember, we are all different - even tho we have CMT! (PS I've been to your country - absolutely gorgeous scenery and lovely, genuine, friendly people - I was in summer schools there - Kusnacht and Einsiedln) OK about CMT: 1) No, CMT does not affect my brain. Matter of fact I feel my brain is my moost developed and best muscle I've got! However, if I don't get the sleep I need, my brain does get tired and a little goofy. Learning meditation has helped me concentrate even more. I am also more alert in the mornings, so I concentrate better then just because of biorythyms! 2) I am the only one in my family to show up with CMT. However, I knew there would be a possibility of me transmitting it to offspring, so I chose not to have children. I do not regret that in the least. My Drs. think that I too am a 'spontaneous mutation'. 3) I used to smoke marijuana, it helped me relax and took the pain away; but I got very giggly and got very hungry. I gave this up about 22 years ago. I learned other methods for pain control, I am still full off laughter at times, but I do not get hungry for wierd food! My handwriting has always been better in the morning. Hope this helps some and again, Welcome to ! ~ Gretchen

Read the articles I sent about Neuropathic Pain. And read the archives, put pain in the search box. Your very lucky you don't have pain. I have shooting stabbing zapping shocking pains, burning pain, stinging, feeling as if fire ants are biting me, pricks of pins jabbing me, with CMT. Then have due to CMT imbalance of muscles, aching, swelling, inflamation, joint and muscle pain. You mention walking aides, what type? ~>Becky M.
