For those who had JRA as a kid

I need some help. I think my husband pushes Hayden too far when he's

not well. He's only 4. Sometimes he's hurting to much to walk. He

won't carry him, or make it seem like i'm going against him if I

choose to.

I think we do a good job of still expecting him to behave when he's

not doing well. He can't use it as an excuse for not listening.

BUT, dh needs to have some compassion! The kid hurts. He's so young.

Kids his age will whine, but a kid who hurts will more. And we can

remind him " there's a nicer way to ask that " but I do understand at

the same time. I am not going to force him to walk home from his

friends house when i can see pain in his face.

He's having his first big flare up since he got the very first one.

Since then it's just been aches here and there, a few days of

limping, and a general down turn in mood. He got a sprain/twisted

ankle. He is still having major pain since (2 weeks ago). We are

trying to get in to see the rhuemy before our scheduled appt.

Anyway, my favor. If you grew up with this can you please write what

arthritis felt like as a kid. I think my husband is still in denial

that his boy is not always well or " normal " . I think he's afraid of

our son being judged at school, etc. I think he tries to make hayden

be " tough " but sometimes I think he just needs a break.I want him to

know that Hayden is not just milking it, whining for nothing, etc. I

do realize that he hurts daily and rarely ever complains. So I take

heart on the few times he asks for a carry.

Thanks so much
