Guest guest
I'm sorry to read that. Prayers are on their way, ' & a 13 jia/uveitis From: Amy Hendrickson <ahendrickson68@...> Subject: eye pain Date: Monday, June 1, 2009, 6:44 AM Lucy woke up this morning complaining of eye pain. She says it hurts to look at the light. She was scheduled for her 6 month check up for a uveitis screen on June 11th, but I am going to get on the phone after 8:00 and try to get her in today. We just weaned her off the prednisone and she seemed to be doing so well. I would appreciate any prayers for her. Guest guest
Get seen asap.... That is to long to wait if she is having eye pain...Are you all on Metx? Terri eye pain I took Lucy to an optometrist since there is no opthamologist (sp?) in our small town. He did the slit lamp test and he said that he thought he saw a few cells and that this may be the beginnings of uveitis. He wants to see her back in 10 days. Does this sound reasonable? I have a call in to the rheumy to see what she thinks. Amy and Lucy, 7, poly
Guest guest
Amy - Has Lucy been on the prednisolone drops before? I have never heard of the drops causing a change in personality. The drops really only affect the eyes. I think 10 days is too long to go without doing anything. The pred drops are good for taking away inflammation quickly. I would insist on getting put on the drops and get in to an Opthamologist. You don't know how long she has had cells in her eye and going another 10 days could cause damage. We drive 2 hours to see our ped opthamologist. While I don't look forward to that drive anymore after 2 years of every 6 week visits, it is well worth it to be seeing a doctor that knows how to treat uveitis. Keep us posted! & Grant (12, psA/uveitis) > > Get seen asap.... That is to long to wait if she is having eye pain...Are you all on Metx? Guest guest
I heard back from the rheumy yesterday afternoon and she said that Lucy must see an opthamologist and not just the optomestrist. Fortunately, there is one only an hour away and not the hour and a half that the rheumy is. We're going this afternoon. I'm hoping for a conclusive answer. I'm tired of Lucy having various symptoms and not knowing what is going on. Poor Lucy had a meltdown last night when I told her that we were driving to Greeley today. She said she is tired of having things wrong with her. She is tired of having arthritis, she is tired of having pain, she is tired of having blood in her urine and now she has something wrong with her eyes. It is so overwhelming to her. Poor thing. Guest guest
Glad you are getting her in sooner. Hopefully, the eye dr will be able to figure out what's going on. Maybe it will be allergies or something else rather than inflammation. Something easier to deal with. I'll be praying for her and your family. Poor kid! I know my son was the same, and still is, with having things wrong. They just want to be like other kids and this disease can sometimes just pile on more stuff. I think all of our kids go through what Lucy is feeling at one time or another. Update when you can how her eyes are doing, Michele ( 22, spondy) ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Amy Hendrickson Sent: Tuesday, June 02, 2009 9:51 AM Subject: Re: eye pain I heard back from the rheumy yesterday afternoon and she said that Lucy must see an opthamologist and not just the optomestrist. Guest guest
I'm sorry Lucy is going through this. Hopefully you will get a conclusive answer. I know how you feel. Grant had a meltdown last night too! He needed to take his MTX and it was just a fight. Some weeks he is just fine but lately we have been having more fighting. I keep reassuring myself that there is a positive reason God is making him go through all this and someday it will be clear to us why. and Grant (12, PsA/Uveitis) > > > > > > Get seen asap.... Guest guest
Amy, I am so glad that you are getting Lucy in sooner rather than later. I am so sorry that she is having a hard time, and even as adults, we would probably feel like this. I will be praying for her. Kymberli > > > > > > Get seen asap.... Guest guest
We went to the opthamologist yesterday and he did not find uveitis. So that's the good news. The frustrating part is that we don't know what's causing the eye pain. The doctor said that jra can cause your tissues to be drier than normal and that may be why her eyes are dried out. He recommended using artificial tears when she complains of eye pain. Has anyone else run into this? Anyway, we go back Friday just to double check and make sure that there's no inflammation. Thanks for your prayers. Amy On Tue, Jun 2, 2009 at 9:23 AM, toivonen4 <toivonen4@...> wrote: > > > I'm sorry Lucy is going through this. Hopefully you will get a conclusive > answer. Guest guest
Hi! I am 43 and have had JRA (Still's Disease/Systemic) all my life. I have dry eyes due to JRA. It is painful, but the drops help. The drops make a big difference, so I would try them. I hope your daughter's eye pain gets better soon! Carolyn > > > > > > > > > > Get seen asap.... Guest guest
I work for an opthalmologist and dry eye is a major issue with jra - I would recommend putting the drops in 3-4 times a day - they can't hurt and will help keep her comfortable. We tell everyone with dry eyes to use tears before you feel it... once or twice a day doesn't do anything but give you a very short period of relief! Glad there was no uveitis! Guest guest
Thats great news!! I haven't heard of the eyes getting dried out. Grant doesn't have that problem but he also doesn't have the eye pain either. & Grant (12, PsA/Uveitis) > > > > > > > > > > Get seen asap....
