Hmmm, iodine stung, but mercurachrome did nothing in my childhood home.

I thought merbromina might be mercurachrome, too, until I checked Google.

Merbromina is called a disinfectant or antiseptic on the internet, so it may

be more like Listerine antiseptic.

My shooting pains are always definitely well inside my feet/legs and do not

involve any breaks in my skin. Mine have to do with nerves firing bad

messages, not anything structural or physical. Most of my shooting pains have

been replaced by wrenching spasms that can double me over and cause

involuntary gasps from the pain. I suppose I'm just different again. Story of

my life. :-)))

CMT affects us in many different ways, that much I have learned.

finger and forearms, nothing outside to cause them, they are due to the nerves,

and nerves alone. ~>Becky M.

All,

Not sure which it is but it is a mercury based topical antiseptic--probably

merthiolate or mercurochrome

NO, IT JUST HEALED THE SKIN LESION WHICH CAUSED MY SHOOTING PAIN LAST AUGUST

15. AND IT DID VERY QUICKLY, AS COMPARED TO OTHER EPISODES I HAD IN THE

PAST.

I WAS SURE IT WAS MERCUROCHROME UNTIL I READ KATHLEEN'S MESSAGE. I BOUGHT IT

IN GRAN CANARIA AND THE CHEMIST ASSURED ME IT WAS MERCUROCHROME.

IT IS AN ANTISEPTIC WHICH WORKED LAST WINTER AND WORKED ON AUGUST 15.

I THINK THAT THE SMALL FIBERS CARRYING SENSATION FROM THE SKIN OF OUR FEET

ARE MORE UNSTABLE THAN IN NORMAL SUBJECTS: SO NERVE IMPULSES ARE PRODUCED

SPONTANEOUSLY WHEN THE SKIN IS IRRITATED OR CUT OR TOO HOT.

PAOLO

PS. OF COURSE, IN OTHER CASES, SHOOTING PAIN CAN BE UNRELATED TO SKIN

LESIONS, AS MANY OF YOU EXPERIENCED. I THINK MORE STUDIES ARE NECESSARY TO

INVESTIGATE BETTER AND TO SEE WHEN IT IS REALLY NECESSARY TO TAKE DRUGS FOR

NEUROPATHIC PAIN.

Neuropathic pain anytime, everytime, there is painfull neuropathic pain, no

studies needed, ~>Becky M.
